Play yard as bassinet..?

posted 19th Jan
I've read that people have used the pack n play play yards as a bassinet for a while. The one I am talking about has a detachable bassinet and changing pad. I'm wondering if anyone has used one as a bassinet. (For just a few months after baby is born).

I did why spend money on a bassinet that your child will grow out of when you can use the pack n play one instead once baby gets bigger you use the pack n play when ever you need to I like it and its easy to travel with!

I DID! i loved it.. i tried using a normal bassinet but conan would have nothing of it.. i tried the play yard one one day just to see and i finally got to sleep by myself that night! conan didnt like the walls of the bassinet he needed more room to feel comfortable. he also hated being swaddled.

DO IT! I didn't, but honestly her bassinet was SUCH a waste of money. She only used it during the first two weeks. And that was only because I couldn't make it upstairs easily the first couple of nights, and still couldn't lay down completely during those two weeks so I slept in the recliner downstairs (c section). I wish I would have just used her pack n play during that time and not wasted the money on a bassinet.

Thanks ladies! My MIL looked at me like I was crazy when I told her my idea of using the pack n play. To me it's just a multi-use bassinet. I planned on using the play yard part as a bassinet when he grew bigger for naps or keep him there while I cooked/cleaned. And you get a play yard, bassinet, and changing area for half the price of an actual bassinet. That's definitely what I'll do.
