Cop believed this guy had a knife, thought he saw a knife, and shot as the guy was jumping out of the car.

I get that you have to go into a situation like this as a cop, with your guard that at any moment someone will try and shoot you, but to me, this video looks like the guy is just trying to jump out of the car, maybe to run, but definitely looks like him being shot multiple times was extremely over the top.

In either case, I feel so smurfing bad for that girl. I think it was his sister or girlfriend..I almost cried..

everyone is going crazy on facebook because this video was released and this is less than 20 minutes away from where I live....

I'd like some of your opinions on it.

ive seen this before and ive seen similar videos like this which just make me sick... okay maybe shoot him once or twice int he leg, but shooting that many times just baffles me.

there was NO reason to shoot him that many times! shoot him once and cuff his ass, thats all he should have done. this poor girl tho, how tramautizing must it be to see that?? i wouldnt have known what to do

Everyone I know says it's completely justified, and to me it seems so excessive.

i agree with you.. and its a shame this has happened so many times where i dont believe shooting someone that many times is the way to go. yes maybe if someone is charging after you with a weapon but here, that was not the case. the cop only thought/suspected he had something.i dont think its justified at all. police overuse their power sometimes

Honestly, here it's really bad. We have some corrupt things going on and more and more of it is being brought to light.

We have cadets(I think thats what you call them) that won't even volunteer here because they don't want their name associated with our police department.

i think the shooting itself was justified... he did hop out the truck and the cop DID warn him, so that part as much as i hate to say it, doesnt seem odd or out of place. but what the smurf did he have to damn near empty the clip for? it just seemed like he wanted to kill him not get him to stop running or whatever. plus

Way too many shots were fired IMO he was still shooting the guy when he was down.. I understand he felt threatened but come one now. One shot maybe 2 if he doesnt stop but not 10, I feel so bad for the girl she had to stand by and watch her brother or lover or whoever this was (obviously someone very close) die.

Secondly it wasn't just that officer shooting. because clearly when the officer is talking on the radio (the one who killed the man) when you continue to hear more gun shots, probably from which another officer or the driver of the truck.

He shot so many times, it seems unnecessary, but I wasn't there and I don't know what happened prior. The cop knew his name if seemed, so maybe he had a history of violence against officers?

Where as he was warned, he didn't have to shoot him that many times. Once or twice would of been fine, he kept shooting once he was down and that's just BS. I also wanna know why the cuffed him after you can clearly see he was dead, along with arrest the girl.

Safety reasons. Just like crime scenes, many officers take out the clip when it's just the officers and the dead person on scene.

I've been googling and trying to figure out why he was being arrested in the first place. Do you know why?

I wonder too, because the cop was calling his name telling him "don't you move earnie" so clearly...they knew about him, of him, or something.
