re: What are you going to do with tax returns?

we're hoping to be able to pay off one of our vehicles. also need to get some things for the new baby (have NOTHING to pass down since we thought we were done after #2). depending on what (if anything) is left over, we need some work done on my vehicle and so we'll get started on that.

Pay bills in advance and pay off SO's stupid tickets.

Oh yeah.. fix my car and/or find a cheap used car. Forgot about that.

That is awesome. We started last year when DH lost his job(s). Such a weird time to start, I suppose, but it opened our eyes to things. It took a slow start due to that, but now that he's in a good stable job it's much better! This is our first "big" payoff, and we only have two after this! Thankfully we never let ourselves go THAT far in debt, but nonetheless, we want it gone.

What's the method?

Well we will be getting back 9k and I will use it to buy expensive unnecessary smurf till it's gone then bitch and moan about how broke I am.







I'm kidding. We are using it to move into our own place and pay off the rest of our debts.

Depends on how much we get. But, we will probably put some towards my credit card, my SO credit card and the rest in savings.

Pay bills, bills and more bills. No fun money for us this year.

that's awesome! We just started the Dave Ramsey classes last week, but I've already found errors in our budgeting. I don't really have debt (except school), but I hope that by following this I won't accumulate any either!

A general overview..

You first save up 1k to have as an emergency fund. Once you do that you start at the debt that you owe the least amount on, and pay it off (while paying min. on every other balance.) Once you pay that first debt off, you roll that amount over to your second debt....once that is paid, you roll that amount over. So, you'll start paying more and more on the debts you owe and you can pay them off faster & save a ton of money.

So, an example. We are paying 245 on our car right now, when we pay this off we'll roll over the 245 on our next debt - on top of what we're already paying...and so on and so on.

Lawson is getting a vasectomy
We're getting rid of our smurfass Explorer and getting a used car
Getting our NC licenses
Paying car insurance for a year
Getting two used iPhones
And buying Lawson a scooter to ride to work to save money

Then putting a grand in the bank

We are getting like $8k, so it's going for a down payment on a house, closing costs, moving costs and ... if there is money left, a king size bed because this pregnant momma wants to kick him out for taking up our entire queen size.
