single vs double pump

posted 19th Jan
hi ladies, quick question for those who pump and BF. My goal is to BF and pump when I am at work. I originally picked out a double pump, but a friend said a single was better for your boobs. any opinion/advice on which is better?

Double pump. At first I was using a single and it would take half an hour to 45 minutes. When using a double it took 15 to 20 minutes. If your not at work you can nurse on one side pump on the other. It is hard to get the right placement at first but really helped me increase my supply when I was starting out.

My insurance covered it see if yours will too. As of Jan 1st most are required to. Only bad thing about medela is its not a closed system.

a closed system can be shared because the internal structure is protected so diseases and infection cannot be passed from one person to the other. These are usually hospital grade pumps. Open systems can get stuff in them, so its not advised that they be shared so that infectious diseases cannot be transferred from one person to another.

Call your insurance company and ask if they cover breast pumps. They will tell you their policy and procedure for obtaining one if they cover it.

I have MVP and they will only cover up to $75...so I got a single one just for cost purposes. But if we could afford it I would have gotten a double for work.
