So my "friends" husband just called my son bad because he is considered special needs. We don't know why he is, but he just is. He is lacking in fine motor, gross motor, and speech. He told me I needed to beat his ass. Really?!?! Cylus has an issue comprehending what is wrong and what is right, but to tell me my kid is bad. I'm in tears.

I'm sorry. I hear things similar from my own family- We don't know what's wrong with my daughter, but she doesn't talk and is developmentally delayed also. She is hard to handle and people always imply that I let her get away with everything, and if I would just spank her one good time she'd be fine. Even my mother implies that.  
I don't know your whole situation, but I feel like I can relate a little.

We're just getting started, she has a hearing eval next week and a speech eval the week after that. She's 2.5, it took this long for anyone to be concerned that she was on the same verbal level as a 6 month old. I get really angry when I hear, "Oh she'll talk when she wants to, then you'll wish she'll be quiet, ha ha ha." Just, no.
Does anyone have any idea what's wrong? Or is all still a giant question mark?

Its a giant question mark with Cy. They thought it was just from his obstructive sleep apnea. Well we got that fixed. He is in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech therapy. He is making improvements in Speech with this new therapist. It still takes him 5-10 minutes with assistance to make anywhere near a sentence and then it is still babbling. he is really good with numbers though. He knows math. Its like everything is in his brain he just can't get it out KWIM?

Oh yeah, that makes sense- I can tell my little girl is bright, but she does not talk. She literally has only two sounds, "mmm" and "ahhh", and sometimes combines them.
It's so frustrating to know that your child knows things, but can't communicate them.

Have you tried Signing? It takes alot of work at first but OMG it makes it sooooo much easier and less frustrating on both ends!

I tried it for a few months but she never picked up more than "eat" and "bird". I got too frustrated and gave it up.

Awwww We just signed as we went. Like drink we signed drink, etc etc.   You could also lay out cards to help figure out what she wants. Like make your own with pictures on them

not a problem! You could even do them on note cards and put them on one of those rings.
