Pumping
posted 18th Jan
My little sister has been pumping every 2-3 hours and getting almost 4-6 oz total out of both breast. She noticed a blister on one of her breast and decided to pop it..don't ask why..she just did. after pumping for 10 minutes she had to quit because her nipples hurt so bad and it's because more blisters have formed. I just went out and bought her some Lansinoh nipple cream to use. how long does it take to heal the nipples and will it cure the blisters? also, what is causing blisters to form? is it improper placement of the pump or is it possible she has the cycle to high (it's at the fastest it will go)

The suction may be too high
It happened to me a few times and I also got them when DS first started nursing and couldn't control is suckling
The cream should help pretty fast

The suction may be too high or the flange may be too big/small.

Lanisoh can heal them even as quickly as between feeds, if the pump is improperly latched (much like if baby was) that can cause blisters, the best way i found to pump was to start very slowly and then build it up to faster once the milk was flowin she could try hand expressing for a whil until her nipples are feeling better

Ouch sounds painful! That cream is AMAZING I use it before every express so my nipples stay comfy and dont get sore at all.. It will heal them pretty fast to! I agree, maybe the suction is abit to high, start out on low and gradually turn it up
