depo shot

what is it like getting a depo shot for birth contol? I hear different things from my doctor but I didnt know whats best to put myself on now cuz birth control pills I cant keep track of taking being so biz e working and all and having a baby now & i am not trying to have another baby anytime soon lol.

I'd look into an IUD. The depo is a terrible method of birth control.

I had a period 3 months straight. Threw into some mood swings too. Don't do it

One of my friends was on it and after what she went through I won't ever get it. She bled for three weeks straight like a very heavy period for the first three weeks and then after that she got such bad cramps for a week out of every month (Im assuming when she was supposed to get her period) that she could barely get out of bed. Then when she was getting off of it she bled for a month straight and could barely get out of bed the whole time. On top of that she went from 110lbs to 155lbs and couldn't loose the weight until she had been off depo for a year, even with diet and exercise.

I gained 80lbs in a year when I went on depo  

wow, well im not hearing anything good about it lol so what is best 4 me to try instead of that? i would do birth control again but ill end up missing days like i did b4 how i had my lil 1 i have in my life now.

Wow I didn't know so many people disliked it. I loved it! I never got a period and only gained weight because I have zero self control and gave into all the cravings I had. I wish I could still be on it but because of my small build my dr said I could only be on it for 2 yrs.

When I was on it, I loved it! No period the entire time...but then I noticed my clothes getting tighter, and I ended up gaining close to 30 pounds...and I was moody as smurf! SO almost left me because of my grouchiness. That's when I decided saving my relationship with him was more important than not having a period. Once I missed my shot, all hell broke loose. My cycle was messed up for about a year after.

It's inserted into the uterus and lasts for 5-10 years, depending on which one you get. I have paragard inserted.

I gained 60 pounds in less then a year all because of one depo shot! Never again

Oh wow! I only gained 20 (that refuse to come off!!) and my cycles went right back to normal.

Last year I got one shot and bled for 5 months straight. It was horrible! I refuse to ever take that smurf again. Depo is the devil! No joke.

I loved it. I was on the depo for 5 years. No periods, no mood swings, and in 5 years I gained 6 pounds. It never bothered me at all. The only part that pissed me off was when I stopped the shot last December. I bled for almost 6 weeks, that sucked huge balls. But my doc tells me my reaction to the shot is very uncommon. My body just handled it really well.
