I don't know when to go to the hospital

My last pregnancy, my labor was 5 hours exactly from the time I lost my mucus plug until the time I gave birth (15 minutes after my water broke). I never had horrible contractions...just mild period like cramping.

My doctor keeps telling me to go to the hospital as soon as I start having contractions. When I was in L&D on Tuesday and Wednesday, I was having contractions that were supposed to be really bad, but I couldn't feel them at all. The nurses all said to come in when I can't breathe through contractions.

How am I supposed to know when that is, if I can't feel them? I guess I'm just really nervous about giving birth at home because I didn't know that I was in labor. I've been cramping for weeks, but I'm still only 1cm dilated.

What would you do?

With my son, I was already 3cm dilated at this point. I am only 1cm and the contractions that I'm having aren't causing any cervical changes.

With my son, I sat at 3cm for 9 weeks with the help of meds for 6 weeks. Then I went from 3cm to 10cm in 15 minutes. Water broke and had DS 15 minutes after that.

Whem they are 3-5 minutes apart for at least an hour. I would suggest 5 minutes for you though, lol...

They were 5 minutes apart last night, but I could breathe and talk just fine. I fell asleep and woke up with horrible heartburn and nausea/vomiting.

When you were there on Wednesday, did they check you for dilation, effacement and staging??

I was still 1cm dilated, 70% effaced, and -1 station.

Honestly, if they start up again, I would go in. Did you deliver early last time?
