Weightloss before TTC?
posted 18th Jan
I have officially decided I want to talk to my husband about having one more baby. Before he had said he was okay with it if I wanted one more so I'm pretty sure he will still say okay. My deal is I have gained a lot of weight since my last (I quit smoking over a year ago). I'm wanting to lose about 75lbs. Any advice (other than just excercise and watching what you eat). I'm a stay at home mom right now and don't have the ability to get a babysitter to go jogging or to the gym. (Husband is in the oilfield so he works a crazy schedule)

Could you take the kids to a park and run around with them or play with a soccer ball with them?

I'm kinda in the same boat. I want to lose at least 50 lbs before we TTC, which we have tentatively planned for a year or so from now. Right now my main focus is portion control and curbing down on my boredom eating. My husband works in the oilfield as well (offshore around the Texas-Mexico border) so I know what you mean about the schedule.
Check with your local 24 hour gyms. We have one around here called Snap Fitness that offers a special deal for oilfield workers who are out of town a lot. DH was able to join for 20 a month, and they let him add me for 10 extra. So in total we pay 30 a month for both of us to have full access. I haven't gone much, but since it's a 24 hour gym I can go at night after putting DS to bed when DH is here to watch him. I've gone a few times and taken DS with me (he's 4), which they say is fine as long as he doesn't go out onto the gym floor. He just played his DS or Angry Birds on my phone for a half hour while I was on the elliptical.

I used my fitness pal very religiously and lost 20 lbs while ttc before getting preg. I'm so glad I got that extra weight off first

I lost 20lbs doing weight watchers and at home exercise DVDs. I would have lost more but we just found out that I am pregnant again so i will have to wait to loose much more. On the plus side it isn't uncommon to become more fertile as you loose weight. Good luck!!!

I am in the same boat. I have a 2 year old and a 5 year old and stay home. I have lost 30 pounds since April of last year (August- December were crazy busy) and I have another 40 to go for a total loss of 70 when I reach my goal. I got a FitBit step counter to see how active I am, then I keep track of what I eat of www.myfitnesspal.com. Start off small just see what your eating and walking then build from there, so if you are walking 3,000 steps a day then set a goal of 5,000 and keep going. I eat around 1400-1600 calories a day and Im not hungry at all. I walk 3.5 on my treadmill (use to throw the kids in the stroller and go before I got my treadmill) and I would work out to several home fitness DVD's. I have Brazilian Butt Lift, The Firm, P90X, Pilates and a few Yoga videos. I switch it up, so I dont get bored. Hope this helps.

Exercise videos you can do at home. Invest in an elliptical I own one and love it. I use it 5-6 days a week along with doing turbo Fire

I decided to start losing weight in December and have lost 10 lbs so far by doing a Wii fit game. I am TTC, but we decided to start after I had just started losing weight, I'm not stopping just because I'm TTC. I stopped drinking soda completely, and count every single one of my calories. I am hoping I get pregnant soon, but am not going to continue losing weight when I am, just exercising and making good choices. I did buy a book that has some pretty tasty low calorie recipes and it is called 'Eat this, Not that." They pretty Mich take restaurant foods and make them low cal, I've made about 5-6 recipes from it and they are pretty easy.

I lost 20 pounds in a month taking HCG from GNC. They're drops, and you take them before every tiny meal. It puts you on I think 500 calls a day. All you get to eat for lunch & dinner is 4oz of protein & 2 cups veggies. It gives you the whole meal plan and some recipes, like the chilie which is amazing. I followed the instructions and stuff religiously with a few cheat days. You also drink a gallon of water a day which you can flavor.
You don't exercise on it or anything. It tricks your body into thinking its preggo, and when you don't eat enough cals, it takes them from all the left over fat you've got. Simplest way it was explained to me.
I don't recommend soon it longer than a month. Nobody I talked to had success on their second month with it. It's basically good for the first month to jump start your weight loss, motivate you, and get you used to eatin healthier and a lot less.
