Had the tubal ligation done.

No food, liquids, cigarettes, or medication after midnight.
I went in at 8:50AM, was in scrubs and laying in the hospital bed by 9:06AM. They took my blood pressure which was actually good (I've had smurffy blood pressure since I got pregnant with LO, it never went back to normal) so that was a surprise, got an IV put in while doing a breathing treatment since I'm a filthy smoker, got a small dose of happy juice, talked to the doctor and got a BIG dose of happy juice. The last thing I remember is the doctor checking my pubic area to see if I needed to be shaved, bahaha.
Waking up was a bitch, I couldn't see straight for a while. I was sore, but not bad. I got up and got clothes on by myself, I felt like I could walk out but they put me in the wheel chair. And now I'm home with percocets and motrin.
Still a little sore, still sleepy. Having some swelling issues but I'm told it's normal (My fingers look like sausages). All in all, it was relatively simple and not a big deal at all. So if anyone is looking for a permanent birth control, I definitely recommend it. It's not safe for me to carry another pregnancy so I chose to go ahead and get my tubes tied to be safe.

Did you have the key whole or the cut along you pubic area? im thinking about maybe having ti done in a few years after baby number 4! glad it all went well for you!

Glad your recovery is going well. Mines sucked! but if I had to do it again I would.

The swelling is cause of the high IV they had pouring into you to keep you hydrated through surgery.

Good luck healing.....when you get off your meds Id love to talk to you about as this is for sure my last.

Im guessing pubic area since it wasn't done after giving birth.

A lot of women get their tubal ligation after birth, meaning their uterus is still high up in the stomach so they only need to do a small incision by your belly button. If you decide to get it done any other time like I did, they do the procedure like a c section. Its not a huge scar mines is only like 2-3 inches. & yes it needs to be shaved, I shave anyway so I made their job a little easier lol.

I have a piece of gauze taped on the inside of my belly button and near my c-section area. I didn't look for very long cause it's still tender, lol.

I just threw up a few minutes ago, but I'm feeling much better.
Sadly though, I think I need to eat again because that was my only meal and it's now in the trash can. It doesn't help my tummy was already sensitive because I had the flu last week lol.

Do they do it right after birth? Do you know who long you have to decide to do it that way?

Im mostly worried Im going to lose my 'womeness'.....anything you want to tell me about that?

Surprisingly, no lol. I don't grow hair around that area, maybe cause of the c-section scar? Or maybe he was just being polite and saying no out loud because my husband and best friend were in the room. (We had to cancel LO's speech/audio evaluation because the city it was in was covered in ice, and DH can't drive so my friend took me).
And not a problem, I'd love to be of assistance.

Aww, yeah I felt nauseous at the hospital but it got better once I came home. Did they give you any nausea medication? I would just eat light I was scared of pooping for a while lol.

Before the surgery, she put something in my IV to help with stomach upset (It was clear, not sure what it was) and gave me a little nausea medication patch to put behind my ear. I got it on, but my stomach is still churning a little.
I was kind of expecting them to send me back home. I got a tattoo yesterday and thought they'd have a problem with it lol, but I had that appointment for the tattoo as a rain check and couldn't reschedule because it was a promotional deal the studio was running.

I just noticed you live in Canada, not sure what their rules are there. Here I had to sign a consent a certain amount of days before the procedure. To your last question, everyone is different. I read a lot on women saying they feel that way, or how their sex drive decreased, how periods were heavier with cramping. In my experience I feel normal, dont feel any different than before having it done and my periods are actually lighter no cramping. I would just think long and hard about it and don't do it if there is any doubt at all.
