my fault...

Last night my neighbor calls me and tells me that there was a dog that looked l like mine dead in front of the lady across the streets mailbox... I said its not Rocky because he is in his fence. Well I ran to the backdoor and called for him and he didn't come... I didn't shut the gate all the way and he got out. He was getting into our trash & he had got into the lady across the streets trash as well. I guess he was trying to get back across when a truck hit him. The other neighbor aka old bitch saw it. She thought they had hit our trash can. This was a 90+ pound Rottweiler, there was no way those people who hit him didn't know they had hit a dog but they still didn't stop to let me know. I have no idea if he was killed instantly or if he could have been saved but laid there and suffered . Well as I'm bawling my eyes out the old bitch looks at me and said "you got a mess to clean up. If he wouldn't have been in that trash he wouldn't have gotten killed" I said in a mean tone "thank you Ms. R, I really am not worried about that right now" then she stomped home. My BF was so close to him and my daughter cried most of the night... i have seen my BF cry once out of anger in the 4 years we have been together... when he got home from work he cried and cried. I know he blames me. It was completely my fault. I just wish there was something I could do to make all of our pain go away...

I probably would have snapped and said something much nastier to her. What a cow !! Pets are family, would she say the same thing if it was a child ?!

i'm so sorry for your loss, hun! i'm sorry your neighbor sounds like a horrid bitch also. even if she was mad about him getting into the trash, how could she say something like that? i'm so sorry  

im so sorry for your loss i lost my bestfriend/dog back in july he got hit by a car as well and we found him suffering on the side of the street with a broken spine! that ladys a heartless B**** and i would of punched her in the face

My BF just got through burying him a little while ago... I didn't wanna see him. We will fix up his grave tomorrow. Thanks for all your kind words.

It may sound silly but I can relate to how you feel except my hubby's pet was a turtle he had for 11 years. We also have a dog and bearded dragon, all of which he is very close to. I didnt know that he was supposed to have a specific kind of grass in between his daily feedings, so even though he was eating and watered daily there was a nutrient he wasnt getting and he ultimately died from malnutrition. I cried for days and days, I still feel terrible and it was a while ago. I thought for sure DH blamed me but he says he should have made sure I knew what his feeding regiment was before I took over the responsibility.
