How long do you plan on rear facing? That could help narrow down the choices some.

Do you tend to have tall kids or heavy kids? If they're more on the tall skinny side the MySize70/Size4Me 70 would be your best bet. Tall and heavy would be the Radian. Foonf has a strict 43 inch RFing height limit (at least I think it's 43- you'd have to double check) so it won't last as long height wise but will last a long time if you have a really heavy baby. The Peg won't last quite as long as the Radian by height, but it's a nicer seat IMO.

the foonf has a 6 month age minimum for RF I think, so if she plans on getting a seat to use from birth that wouldnt be an option

I have a Britax and I love it.
My only complaint is that it is near impossible to use it with the seatbelt, rear-facing. I have little hands and tried and tried and tried to install it this way and couldn't get the buckle through.
I have it installed with the latch system and it works great but I did need to buy a second seat because switching from car to car w/ the latch was a pain.

I got one of the Graco Convertible carseats from toys r us and I love it. I paid $150 (but it was on sale when I bought it) and it was originally about $200. My daughter also seems to love it. It has plenty of room for her to grow also.

Since you'll be using it from birth...Graco MyRide, most Britax, Safety 1st TrueFit and Radians. Most others the harness slots are too high for such tiny babies...
