15 critical health violations...?!

At a Chinese place I eat at regularly... I'm not sick though there shouldn't be any issues, I should have checked out? I'm so incredibly grossed/freaked out by this report... I've eaten there before and during my entire pregnancy... and there's been 15! Red alert violations! Don't they have to display there health code grade if it's below a certain level!? I've never seen one. It's been such a popular place since I was in high school, and during my pregnancy I've craved a lot of their food... UGH... I shouldn't be worried though if I'm not sick? I haven't eaten there in maybe a month. This inspection was done on the 6th of Dec. And just released to warn the public today... I cannot believe they weren't just flat out shut down... Slime in the ice machine, hundreds of thousands of rat droppings on and around where food is stored! Food stored on the floor! Like WTF. The food manager wasn't even able to answer the simplest of health regulation questions... I don't understand how they could serve people under those conditions...

Oh gross!!!! Red violations are usually the really critical ones. I wouldnt be worried about a yellow violation as much but a red.... yuck!!

I used to work at a pizza place right after I graduated high school... They had so many violations... The difference was, the boss had a connection with the health department or whoever, so even when they were planning a surprise inspection, the boss got a warning and scoured the place to perfection. It was gross, I refused to eat there until the place went under new management.

If you aren't sick don't worry about it. Their was a chinese place I ate at every friday growing up. they were closed down for having dead cats in their freezers. I ate it every friday its sick   but if you are ok a month later nothing to worry about

I'd def tell my dr/midwife, that's just disgusting!

You can request to see the health inspections under FOI to see the details of the violations.

I know here, there is no way a FSE would be allowed to remain open with that amount of violations. Even 4 is pushing it

If you haven't eaten there in over a month, and haven't had any health concerns so far, you should be fine.
It's still worth mentioning to your midwife/OB, though.
I don't think you need to hear this, but don't eat there anymore!

I would say count your lucky stars that you never got sick from eating there, and then obviously never eat there again (unless they get cleared).

The Chinese place by my mom's house (and the only one in her town) had a roach problem. And even though they got it taken care of I still refuse to eat there, lol.

I heard that Mexican restaurants are pretty bad too. Is that true??

I don't remember her saying anything over the top about Mexican Restaurants like she did about the Chinese ones, but i'm sure they're no walk in the park either.

I've worked for both a Chinese and a Mexican rest.
The Chinese was absolutely disgusting....they actually would butcher chickens and rabbits in the kitchen after hours for their own personal use. They finally got shut down for good when a surprise inspection found "unidentified meat" in the walk-in. Most the people working there had no knowledge of food safety.
The Mexican one was actually pretty clean. Probably cleaner than most American ran restaurants I've worked in.

I've seen chinese places bring in random chickens and ducks for their own meals before. As long as they sterilized the area, that part never bothered me.   I get grossed out when I hear about bugs and mold and gunk on the floors... The local chinese place here is actually pretty clean, I love eating there.

I was more grossed out by the slime in the ice machines my God the bacteria! Let alone rat smurf! Hundreds.... I found the actual report there were 34 violations the 15 were just the ones on the news... Omg I'm so freaked out. They found a dying rat in a hallway in the back... So nasty... There was cross contamination... of meats... Ew this place served sushi! Good thing I hate that stuff. But my boyfriend is a sushi-holic and he's pretty freaked out... I will be mentioning it to my OB on Tuesday. And I do count myself lucky I never got sick. I guess they did just get shut down this past week I don't know for sure but I definitely don't care because I WILL NOT be eating there EVER again... Bleh! The only thing I really ever ate there was their rice and crab ragoon (My main craving this whole time) God this makes me wonder about all the other chinese places around here...
