Low fluid?

posted 18th Jan
I told my doctor I want to go into labor naturally and not be induced like with my son, he said sure, as long as I don't have low fluid. I heard that midwives deliver naturally successfully like 98% of the time but my doctor said that like its common, the fact that he even brought it up.. Funny, I had low fluid with my son, induced at 39 weeks.. How often is low amniotic fluid true vs docs convenience and how can I know what to do and if its true so I can do things my planned way?

I found out the fluid was low for us during a last minute u/s (I was dilated to 4-5 but baby would not drop so did u/s to make sure she was positioned correctly). I ended up being induced. I wanted natural too, but I didn't want to risk going too long with the fluid dropping. I suppose it could be monitored but depends on how comfortable the doc is with that. They can see the fluid level in an u/s and see if it is normal range or not.

I've learned that things don't always go exactly how we want for labor, sometimes you roll with the punches.

If you need to be induced I would say let it happen. I did not want to be induced at all, I told my doctor I would wait till the last moment and give my little man a chance to make his way int the world on his own. Sadly I went back to my last appointment at 38 weeks and the little tiger had flipped head up with feet in my cervix   So now I'm looking at a possible c-section which I had never even dreamed of.   I wish that I had just let them induce when they wanted then I could at least be having a vaginal delivery. There is still a chance I am holding off praying he flips again but it's like a 2% chance. Good luck with everything. Hope you get what you want truly.
