Breast Abscess I&D?
posted 18th Jan
So if you read my past posts, you will see I've been battling mastitis since January 1st.. Now I have a 10 cm abscess and I'm having surgery (put under) to have it drained.....anyone have experience with this? I'm scared but relieved at the same time. Is it a risky surgery?
Also what about BFing? Did you continue? Is it possible to feed off one breast and dry up the other?
TIA

In the Er I work in we do those often however not as large The can be pretty painful during the i&d so I'd say your lucky to be put to sleep for it. Chances are they will pack it to help draw out infection. Should heal up very well though. I hope for a speedy and pain free recovery

Surgery was fine, but the stupid doctor pulled out my packing with NO PAIN MEDS and I'm literally scarred for life now. I was balling my eyes out. After morphine and dilaudid, I got it repacked and was STILL crying. It was awful. Worst experience of my life and I'm dreadingggg tomorrow for them to unpack and repack. I really cannot believe that dumbass couldn't wait 5 mins for me to get pain meds....must've had a golf game to get to since its Saturday!
