Say your having a conversation with your partner and you ask them seriously what they would rate you out of 10 in terms of your appearance.

They say "oh your this" and it's obviously not a 10.... but it's a real number that you'd give yourself or even higher than you'd give yourself.

Are you pissed at the rating.. Or do you value their honesty?

I value his honesty. Even if he gave me a 4, I'd think he was being generous.

If it's what I'd give myself, I'd be happy. I know i'm not a 10, I wouldn't be offended.

My DH (before we were married did that) and rated me lower than I'd rate myself.   I was very hurt.

I honestly don't think i could ever ask that question. Plus i know dude would lie.
But yeah, ha, i guess you should appreciate honesty..it would be a bummer to be rated lower than what you rate yourself. (not you personally, OP, i mean a 'universal you')

I'd value the honesty so long as he didn't rate me lower than I rate myself, which is pretty low but I know SO would never be honest. He'd say I was a 10.  

I'd value his honesty. But I know he would try to rate me higher than I deserve lol

I would be a little hurt but a. SO would never do that. He constantly tells me I am beautiful the way I am and how much he loves me for me. B. if he wanted to be honest a low number wouldn't be a lie. I'm overweight, live in baggy t shirts and pajama bottoms or jeans if we go out, I don't do my hair or makeup at home. Compared to today's standards in beauty I'm probably a 3. I'm ok with that as an answer in the broader picture because its true. Constructive criticism never hurt anyone, too badly.

I thought about what he said... and he said I was a 7. I thought this was VERY generous..

But then he opened his mouth a bit further and said face "10" and then left body blank.. lol I know I've put on like 70lbs since I first met him so i'm covered in stretches and i'm just big in general.

I wish he'd shut up when he called me a 7 and not put his foot in it.

I, personally, wouldn't ask that question if I thought there was a possibility that I would be hurt from the answer. But, DH would lie anyways    

But if he did give me something lower than a 10, at least he's being honest I guess.

I ask DH questions like this sometimes and he is always honest. Sometimes his honesty hurts and I tell him that, he even made me cry one time. However, I always make sure to tell him I'm not mad because I don't want him to be afraid of being honest.

I think i'm like a 5.. and I think if I got in shape the most I could shoot for is an 8.

And of course it's not all about physical beauty, I mean there are so many more things that make a person beautiful.
