Tonight is the Night!

posted 17th Jan
Back Story: my son is just about a year old. He is still on the bottle and yes he uses it as a pacifier. But! He refuses to fall asleep without his milk and his baba. Yes clearly this is my mistake.

But tonight I pray it all changes! No more milk to bed as of tonight! Then in a few weeks bye bye to the baba. Then in a month no more mommy's bed. We are making moves

I Pray I get some sleep tonight & that he just gives up the "Milk War" waving a white flag.

I waited until my daughter was over a year. At that age they still need something for comfort.
DD wanted her bottle, she gave it up a few months later.

Why can't you hold him for him to drink his bottle and then lay him down?

He isn't a fan of it. When he's sleepy he likes to cuddle up with his blanket & pillow. But his bottle & milk is his comfort. But the few times I have held him and he did fall asleep as soon as I moved he'd wake up crying ..

IMO I wouldn't take all of that away back to back. It will likely cause him to regress and give him a lot of sleeping issues

It can cause him to regress.

I would give him a small bottle of water instead of milk to sleep with, start transitioning him to have milk in a sippy and water in the bottle during the day as well.

There is less of a chance of bottle rot.

I didn't plan it all right away. I said I'd be waiting weeks & or months in between transitions.

In your OP you stated doing all of that in a month time. That is a lot of changes in a very short period of time

No that was read wrong. I said after getting him off the milk at night a few weeks well try to start a sippy and a month after try to transition him out of my bed.

Maybe I worded it wrong but I ment to say it as things to be changed will happen within a few months not all right away.

Okay....the first priority should be the milk at bedtime.

The sugars in the milk, sitting on their teeth overnight can cause some incredible harm.

Oh yes I know I talked to his dentist she east saying there is a lot of kids coming in with it & a lot of money going out for it. I got him to fall asleep with just water so as long as we keep this up well keep working on things.
