Flipped head up at 38 weeks? What happened?

posted 17th Jan
I went in to get my 38 week check today (i'm 37 and 5 days) and my little man has some how in the last 7 days flpped himself back up. His feet are in my cervix and head in my ribs (he has been head down since 30 weeks up to my last appointment). Doctor says if he is not flipped back at my appointment Thursday they are scheduling me for a c-section which is the last thing in the world I want   I'm researching ways to help baby flip back right now but would love some encouraging word from someone who had there baby flip head down after this late in the game

I don't have any experience but I would think that if he recently flipped, there is a good chance he can flip back.

I've heard good things about chiropractic adjustments (from someone who has the required skill in getting a baby to flip).

And, I'm sure you've come across this already, but this site will hopefully be able to give you more ideas:

Will your doctor try to rotate the baby? Do they have OBs there who are skilled in vaginal breech births (if this is something you want to consider)?

Best of luck.

I asked about them trying to flip the baby themselves I have heard of this and he said since my placenta is in the front of my belly and I'm 38 weeks tearing the placenta is very risky and it would send me into an emergency c-section. I also asked about the possibilty of giving birth to him breech and neither him or the other three doctors in the office will deliver a baby vaginally breech I'm praying that since he just did it in the last seven days I can get hin to turn again here soon. Checking the website now.

while on your bed or on the floor, sit on your knees, lay forward and tilt your butt as far up into the air as you can comfortably. not only does it help with pelvic pain, it elongates your torso and give baby room to hopefully turn.

thankfully, i make big babies and once they are down, there's not my room to spin.

I hope that helps.

Going to try this tonight. Well I guess that is why I'm surprised to. He is estimated at 7 pounds already but I am 5"10 and very long torso I honestly think there is probably still some room in there even if it is not alot. This is going to happen, he is super active all the time and pushes the crap out of everything inside me. Praying about it to.

I'm tiny. I'm only 5 feet tall and make 8 pound babies. By about month 8 they are all out of room and stuck.

So lucky! Nice healthy big baby is what I want! My only real prayer is since I know he did it in the last 6 days maybe if I can help him get back down in the next day or two he will do it again.   Thanks for the advice my research begins and I will update everyone to what happens. I may get to be one of those tiny percentage women that baby flips in the last few days or even last week

I'm lucky for nice fat healthy babies, yes. Being 5 feet tall well, it has it's days....

I definitely would not schedule, but that's just me. Babies can flip while in labor. Plus, you could quite possibly go another 4 weeks being pregnant which is enough time for baby to flip back around. Spinning babies is a good idea.

Also - Go to a prenatal chiropractor, they can usually get baby to flip with an adjustment!!

It's so funny how one little comment can make you feel 1000 times better. Well I do know we will not schedule till forty weeks at least. I figure if he wants to flip head down and be born at 41 or 2 weeks weighing ten pounds so be it. He moves so incredibly much I still feel confident this can happen. We are working today with positions off spinningbabies.com. Although my actual do date is January 28 as of my anatomy scan at 20 weeks I just never changed it on this thing. Still send prayers my way I have good feelings.

Just an update! Went to my 38 week 5 day appointment today and Alexander is head down! Not engaged and no dialtion or effacement but head down means no c-section and he has a little more time to try and do this on his own. I truly do thank God my little squirm worm was able to shift one more time, now if he will just stay there and come out when he is ready.   GET ENGAGED LITTLE ONE!
