Toddler Eating

posted 6th Jun
...Or lack thereof. Have any of your toddlers started refusing to eat?

Caleb has gotten to where he doesn't want to eat. He's 14 months old. At first I thought it was because he was sick. The past couple of days he's had a virus, but today he has been fine. He ate well at breakfast and lunch. He had a snack inbetween, but at dinnertime he refuses to eat. He just sits in his highchair and plays with his cup. I let him self feed, but even if I try to feed him myself, he turns his head.
He's never been picky about his food. If it's edible, he'll eat it. If it's not, he'll try to eat it. lol. The boy loves food, but not here lately it seems.

Sometimes it takes a few days after getting over a sickness for them to fully develop their usual appetite, he still might be sensitive, was it a stomach virus?

It wasn't a stomach virus. the doctor called it a "croup-like" virus.

He got his first molars in about a week & a half a go, so I don't think he's getting more teeth right now.

its a common thing amongst toddlers.. sick, healthy.. they have these times where they just wont eat.. but as long as they are at least getting something in their tummies and staying hydrated then they are fine  i posted a topic about the same thing a while back... i also tried different types of snacks and more fruits and veggies with dips and things.

it will get better i promise.

Hunter has slowed down on eating. I guess because he's just too interested in other things now, like going outdoors now that the weather is good. Mine is a PIG.. I mean, you will never see another baby wanna eat like he does. LOL. He could be in an eating contest.... but as he got more active, he didn't want to eat as much..

My son is 2 1/2 and he started to be picky around 15 months or so. His pickiness comes in phases. He can go 1-2 weeks with barely touching his meals and then one day he'll start eating like crazy. It come and goes. Parts of it is that fact that like us they're not always hungrybut mostly (in my case anyway) its about control.
So, this is what i started to do: I hide fruit or veggie puree inmuffins or in mashed patatos or any meal i make for the family. I also let him have has much milk as he wants after meals. Another thing i do is make his favorite meal in the world, shepardspie, andgive it to himeveryday (when he's picky) so at less i know he got i meal in his tummy.

it took me a while to get my son to like eating meat.. he would eat curried stuff that my mom would make because it had flavor but it would give him diaper rash because of some of the spices..

but sauces and stuff help and shredding the meat into little pieces

Does he like fish ? My son love salmon, tuna and sole.
When my son is not in a picky phase, he'll pretty much eat anything. The only thing he just started to like is pasta.

He will eat pretty much anything you give him... He LOVES PASTA, has for some time now.. He loves fish & shrimp... He loves fruits and veggies (all kinds) and he has begun to eat some meats... but he still doesn't care for them (but neither do I)

Well, every kid is different. Mine loves peas &carrot in a can, he adores patatoes in all its forms. He generally has no problems with meat and fish. He can't have seafood or honey because of allergies in my family. He does have some weird taste for a 2 1/2 years old: he loved parmesan cheese (my hubby says it's genetic, cause i love it) and couscous.
