Grits

What are they?

We're moving to South Carolina to join DH & he suggested I learn. Lol

How do you cook them!?

Ground up corn deliciousness

The directions are on the package. You cook them sorta like rice, just boil.

People eat the for breakfast with butter, salt and pepper, cheese, gravy, eggs on top etc.

Or with creamy seafood sauce and crab/shrimp

Or, underneath a roast, Grillades etc.. Anything with a brown gravy.

DH puts sugar in his....nasty as hell.

I love mixing them with eggs over easy and bread, omg heaven on a plate.

Just follow the directions on the package, it's very simple. I let them cook a bit longer than it says though. They are little gritty white things, you want them to kinda bust open and mush when they cook. You'll learn whether you like them with more or less water than the directions call for.

I LOVE mine with just butter and sugar! In fact, I've never really tried them any other way...  
To me, it's like cream of wheat...

There are yellow ones as well Im not sure if they taste different but it seems to be a favorite in restaurants.
