posted 17th Jan
i am 34 weeks pregnant and have been suffering with gallstones to which i will have removed a few weeks after delievery. i suffer mild attacks on most days but there pretty controled with painkillers, (zappain) paracetamol/ codean) during these attacks i end up vomitting. however today i have had no sign of an attack and pucked my guts up. the sucky thing was there was so much blood in it... i mean it looked like i had pucked and had a nose bleed at the sametime. i understand then when u vomit pretty much daily u tend to have blood in ur vomit.. however i have never seen it to this extent.. i mean there were loads.! it wasnt chucky blood though, just tiny clots with loads of fresh blood. i dont know if i should be worryed about this and visit my doctor tomoz as a emergancy or wait until monday when i see my midwife? anyone have a clue whats going on?

You could have ulcers, a GI bleed, or if you have been coughing a lot it could be blood from a trachea bleed.

ETA: You should probably go in and get it checked out immediately.

You probably irritated your esophagus and ruptured some capillaries. It wouldn't hurt to call your doctor to see what he/she thinks.

Gah! I forgot about Capillaries. I hate those suckers. They bleed like a mofo!

Yes, they do, especially during pregnancy when blood volume is increased and capillaries are more sensitive.

If it's bright red blood, you probably have a tear in your esophagus from throwing up. If it looks like coffee grounds, it's something that warrants going to get checked out soon. Either way, if you're worried, go to your doctor.

This. Dark blood is typically more worrisome when it comes to GI issues.

Trust me I know. Not from being pregnant, but 2 weeks ago, I sliced my thumb open, and it took 3 bandages my husband made for me before the bleeding slowed down.

I cut myself shaving yesterday and it wouldn't stop bleeding. I'm on blood thinners, though.

I hate when that happens. My skin is so tough though, half the time I don't notice I cut myself shaving until I see the blood.

I don't blame you. To be honest blood freaks me out sometimes too!

One time during pregnancy, I was throwing up. Naturally my eyes tear up when I vomit. Anyways, I felt the tear leave my eye, and at the same time a drop of blood lands in the toilet. I freaked out thinking I had blood coming out of my tear ducts.

No need to be alarmed. It was a bloody nose.
