Waking up to blood.

I put my son down for a nap earlier and he threw a big fit for about 10 minutes and than calmed down and fell asleep. When I got him up I noticed blood all over his pillow, blanket and pants. I checked his entire body and there wasn't any blood on him at all. No dry blood in his ears, mouth or nose. Has anybody else ever experienced something like this? If so did you ever figure out where the blood came from?

Did you check the inside of his mouth? I know you said mouth but that's happened to DD before, she bit the crap out of herself.

Is he potty trained? Maybe he had an accident and peed blood from an infection?

How much blood are we talking here?

!! Is it spots of blood, a puddle?

I checked his entire mouth and there was nothing. He's 20 months old so no potty training, I checked his diaper, penis, butthole and nothing. I do think it came from his mouth though I just don't know how. It was scattered all over his pillow, in spots.

Maybe he bit his tongue. If he was throwing a fit when you put him down I wouldn't doubt it. I know my DS has done that.

I checked his tounge though, and it's not swollen and doesn't have a mark like it would if he had bitten it.

He could have coughed it up? And by the time you noticed he may have swallowed any bits that were left in his mouth.

I never have any marks after a few minutes when I bite my tongue and neither does my toddler.... So the only other thing is that he coughed up blood but then you would have more serious things to worry about if that is the case.

Thought about that but it would have probably been all over him if he coughed it up. I didn't hear him cough either. I dont know though.

I've been checking him since he woke up not just right after I got him up. I dont think he coughed it up because it would have been all over him. He had a few smears on his pants but nothing on his shirt, around his mouth or his sheets. I think he might have smacked his teeth against his crib bars and made himself bleed and then fell asleep and drooled blood everywhere
