My mother is so uptight!

I was talking to my mother the other day and I mentioned to her that I had gone out with my friend to a couple of bars to have a few drinks the night before. She starts going off on me about how that makes me look like an awful mother and wife, leaving my kids with their father while I go out drinking, and it was no wonder my husband is afraid I'll cheat on him, she didn't doubt that I was already.

Ummm, ok. First of all, it's the first time I've set foot in a bar since October 2008, when I found out I was pregnant with DD 1.
Second, One night out a month does not make me a bad mother or a bad wife.
and third, unless I run into Robert Pattinson in a bar in this little one horse town, I wont be cheating on my husband, and he knows this.

What the hell made my mother blow up like this? I know she grew up in a different time, but, seriously, wtf?

First, and most importantly, Robert Pattinson is freaking ugly, so it's no wonder she questions your fidelity if that's all it would take..

I agree with this. I think mom's should be able to have nights to them selves in the same way that dad's should. You're not JUST a mom, you're a friend, too, and you deserve a little time with your friends as long as you put your family first.

That's ridiculous. Just because I push a kid out of my vagina doesn't mean I can't still be me.

Ack my mum says that crap to me all the time, tell her to shut it! If you weren't happy in your relationship you wouldn't be there and if your SO is ok with you being out then you can go all you want! Your not a baby and thank her for the lack of trust! Shocking a controlling mother works better than walking on egg shells around them. I sing in a band..we have to play in bars a lot and in 5 years of doing so..I have never once (even after being offered) have cheated at all, I love my SO more than the world and no man could ever replace him in my world! Even Robert Patterson!

She's acting like I go into these places and take my wedding ring off and pretend I'm single and don't have any kids. My wedding rings were securely in place the whole time, and I didn't even really speak to anyone but my friend, except to order drinks. She just pissed me off with that crap.

My mom is the same. She says because i'm a mom now I can't go out and have fun. Then 2 days later shes telling me to go out and live my life, that I'm young and can meet someone else. ....ugh moms. .....
