you don't get withdrawals from marijuana.... not even babies.
So that's a stupid assumption.
It's pretty possible for a baby to have to stay that long for meconium... depending on the severity.

Well it could be millions of things... But it's their child. They really don't have to tell anyone if they don't want to...

Withdrawal from weed?? STFU.
quoteposted 17th Jan
Maybe the baby aspirated the meconium.

If the baby aspirated any of the meconium, it may require a longer stay. I wouldn't think it would be from weed though.

Yes if the baby aspirated the meconium it could definitely be in nicu for that.

Exactly.

Every baby is different, maybe the baby is having trouble breathing? I doesn't sound strange to me, maybe they just dont want to tell everyone their business? Some people dont feel the need to digress every bit of information about their child, healthy or not.

Its very possible for the baby to be in nicu for a week. And maybe she just wanted to rest so she had them keep the baby in the nicu instead of in her room. Why does it matter?

I agree. The baby could very well have inhaled it and it could of been way worse then your baby and its meconium.
Marijuana wouldnt be the reason thqt baby is in the nicu

The few studies that have been done on marijuana use in pregnancy have failed to show any difference in neonatal outcomes. In Canada, in some native communities where the alcohol abuse rate and FAS rate are so high, care providers will actually tell pregnant women that if they won't give up drugs completely, to smoke pot instead of drinking -- because we know the damage drinking causes, and haven't been able to prove that marijuana causes anything.

My first daughter was in nicu for 7 days after aspirating mec and having difficulty breathing afterwards. It happens. My second had mec in her waters, but didn't aspirate, she was allowed to stay with me and was discharged the next day.
