re: Calling your baby by their name before born D&D

Quoting she nan igans:" See, I think that seems so weird. A name is a name. I really don't think kids "act" like certain names. ... [snip!] ... names. However, if I'd named them differently, then I wouldn't be able to imagine them with the names they currently have, haha"

I guess for me it's because I thought of names to give Lily, I had names I was so stuck on. I was stuck on Atreyu for a boy, and Kadence for a girl. I was SO stuck on that. But I saw her and then a name I mentioned once seemed more fitting. I seriously was so stuck on Kadence but she did NOT look like one. I think kids can "look" their names. I changed Lilys middle name and she never fit her original name, but she fits her name now.

I've called my DD Layla ever since it was confirmed she was a girl. Even before I found out it was a girl, all my coworkers would say "HI LAYLA!" to my belly when I came to work in the morning. Every one of them predicted a girl... lol.

I genuinely don't understand how that could be weird or tacky...

As soon as my daughters sex was confirmed 2 times, I started calling her by her chosen name, Adina Rose. Before that, I just called her "Bean" lol

Quoting Taryn - Anya's mommy:" I know a lot of us have named your children before they have even been born, did you tell people what ... [snip!] ... by her name once I found out it was a girl, and told people what her name was going to be. So what are your thoughts on this?"

Once we found out what we were having and had a name picked out we started calling her by her name before she was even born! I don't think it's stupid at all

It's just personal preference.

We had Grace's name picked out while we were TTC. She was never anything but Grace. Same with Evy and Charlie. All three had names, even though we didn't know gender.

Ella we didn't name until she was born.

Sophie took a week to name. We'd had a different name picked out all through pregnancy, but didn't tell anyone because we weren't 100%. Lo and behold it didn't fit and so we had to take some time to think about it.

And Clara didn't have a name at any time in my pregnancy, we took a week to name her, gave her a name, THEN decided it wasn't right and changed it to Clara a couple days later.

Different things work for different people and there's no assurance that it will even be the same method between different kids/pregnancies.

We picked Scarlytts name before we were preg too. Then we discussed It again when we got preg. We just felt it was right. There's not a doubt in my mind this is her name. I just feel its right.

I called DD by her name even before we had the sex confirmed. I just knew she was going to be a girl.

I've never heard anyone say it's weird lol. I started calling my kids by their names before they were born. It kind of made me feel more connected to them somehow instead of just calling them "the baby" (SO felt the exact same way too).

I wouldn't, but then again I've had two babies in my family that were supposed to be one gender born the other gender & one, we do have lots of video of us telling "her" how excited we are about "her" and it's a nephew of mine. LOL

But whatever. IDC or anything. It's just not something we do.

Angel was either Angel or Angelina since I got pregnant and I called him Angel as soon as I found out he was a boy. What am I supposed to call him? It? "Oh, little IT is moving around in my belly." No. Dumb.

I didn't tell anyone (Unless people on here count) her name, but there is nothing wrong with telling people the name of your child before it's born. I have a friend who did it, and everyone knew the baby's name. It was fine! It just wasn't a surprise when she was born.

I did call her Hailey throughout my pregnancy. Then she was born, and it didn't suit her, so it became one of her middle names.

Bunch of meanies on that site, though. Scary.
