re: Calling your baby by their name before born D&D

posted 17th Jan
I called my daughter by her name before she was born. I refer to my sisters unborn baby by the name she picked out for it. I don't see a problem with that.

I definitely started calling my kids by name when I was pregnant...once the gender was determined and the name was settled on, that was it. It happened a lot sooner with my daughter than with my boys lol

I don't find it tacky or stupid at all, but I didn't do it. Although we were pretty certain on the name from 17 weeks on, we did not want to for sure commit to a name until we met her. I was so afraid that the name we picked wouldn't fit her. She was baby girl for about about 24 hours after she was born, just so we could be 100% positive!

I just called him "Roo". I stated before I knew he was a boy. We couldn't agree on a name and I didn't want people's opinions. I still call him Roo.

I had my kids' names picked out before they were conceived, so the moment I found out their gender, I called them by their names from then on.

Quoting Taryn - Anya's mommy:" I know a lot of us have named your children before they have even been born, did you tell people what ... [snip!] ... by her name once I found out it was a girl, and told people what her name was going to be. So what are your thoughts on this?"

I dont think kids should be named before they are born, BUT its not WRONG to do so beforehand. I just think kids should be seen and see what they "look" like. But I would never call anyone stupid for naming their child before. Thats just dumb.

See, I think that seems so weird. A name is a name. I really don't think kids "act" like certain names. You pick one and then you can't imagine them with different names.

I'm not meaning to attack you, I just have never understood that. I named my kids before they were born, and now? I can't imagine them with different names. However, if I'd named them differently, then I wouldn't be able to imagine them with the names they currently have, haha

With My girls we picked out their names as soon as we found out the gender, sometimes I would call them by name, sometimes I wouldn't. With my son we knew as soon as we found out he was a boy that he would be a junior, so his name will be David. I don't hate the name but I don't love it, and my SO doesn't even go by David. So I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to call him yet, I do have a few nicknames I like. I've called him David a few times so far, but I also call him baby, or little man, among other things. I'm really just waiting until he gets here to see what fits him.

I've always called my babies by their names...They might as well get used to it! I KNEW Judah was gonna be a boy so his name-calling started earlier.

i honestly never had a for sure name picked out before the birth of most of my 4 children. (i think with my 4th i had the idea but i didnt call him that while he was inside me still) this time when i found out she was a girl i had already picked out her name. everyone knows she is going to be Merida and thats what we call her mostly. (to some people i say my baby cause they arent close enough to me.)
