Sort of trying not to freak out.

posted 17th Jan
I've thought this since dexter was about 6 weeks old. I've taken about a few pictures of him in 3 months and The ones that get Red Eye... one of his eyes isn't red... it's whitey/pink.... I mentioned it to my mum and she googled it! and came up with retinoblastoma. Does anyone have any experience with this? or no anything about it?! It's not every picture that goes like it, just a few. But it's still happens?! I'm making him an appointment at the doctors tomorow morning to get him looked at because I'm not taking any chances. But please help me. I'm trying to worry but i really am! I wish doctors were open all night so we could go in now!.

This is true.

OP, don't read anything. Seriously. Go to the Dr if you have real concerns but otherwise you'll just drive yourself nuts.

I know, I did that too. Worse, my oldest wasn't very healthy, so I drove myself totally crazy trying to diagnose her and worrying and everything.

Call your pediatrician if you're actually worried instead of asking non-medical professional strangers on the Internet.

I didn't read the page she sent me about it. cause i already new that sometimes this white pupil in pictures could mean something bad. So i haven't read it. just read the name of it.

I haven't had a photos where his pupil has gone white in a few weeks so i sort of forgot about it, but in the last two days i've had 2 pictures where it's happened. I just wondered if anyone else experienced this and it's turned out to be nothing. It's my mum that's freaking me out more than anything. Bless her. I'm making an appointment tomorrow anyway. x

Well you have been vastly misinformed.

Kidding. Seriously though, the fact is that no matter what we say you wont feel better. We Mom's (all of us) freak ourselves out and sometimes the BEST thing that can be said is "calm your tits down, it's okay." Seriously, because if hear people say "well MY kid had that too!" then you'll worry. If someone says "I think they're fine," you'll still worry. There really is no right answer other then, if you feel you have a valid concern take them to the Dr to look at and run necessary tests. I know it's scary and we tend to work ourselves up, which is why having a thread about it is only likely to upset you more.

I'm sort of feeling silly about it now, I'm still gonna take him in but it's like... "Hey my sons eyes look funny in a couple photos, have a look for me" They're just gonna look at me like an idiot. lol! and now after reading back my post... it does sound like i'm some hysterical crazy lady! lol. my other half has just looked through his photos aswell and found a few where the same eye is like it. so I'll definately be taking the pictures to show Doctor. xx

I TOTALLY understand. Seriously, I've been there. I'm sure I have my share of threads that are "My daughter is walking funny! I think she has leg cancer!" It's just what we do as parents because we worry. *hugs*

Been to the doctors. His concerned enough to send him for a Eye Exam at the hospital but we've gotta wait a month for the referral. A month of wondering! Brilliant. the only thing he could tell me is that it's definately not cateracks (spelling) lol. and he can see a slight difference in the right eye but he didn't want to say anything more becasue it's not his area.... :S

They are probably sending him there to rule things out x if they thought it was really serious you wouldn't be waiting a month

He said his sending him in cause he couldn't get a good enough look at the back of his eye to have any sort of opinion on what's up. But the only thing he saw for definate is that there are some differences in the eyes. which probably just means his gonna need glasses like me and his daddy. We'll see I guess! Him being a happy little fella is definately making me feel a bit better though, bless him and his smiley face. x
