Oily hair.

posted 17th Jan
I have naturally oily skin and hair, but as long as I bathe each morning, I am okay. However, I notice about 3/4 through the day, I am oily hair again. And it bugs me because I am at work and it looks yuck. Is their any product or shampoos I can use that won't make my hair oily or will HELP with the oily problem I have? This is embarrassing even asking about...TIA.

Try making a homemade shampoo with baking soda and using vinegar as a rinse aid and I'm sure you will see results. Google it for directions on everything. Good luck

I have the same problem. One thing, if you are using conditioner now I'd stop. It can really make it worse. Make sure the brush you use doesn't have hair stuck in it, it can make your hair oily, and don't run your fingers through you hair or mess with your hair, especially after touching your face.

Also, scaling back on washing it helps. If you have a day off, don't wash your hair. Over washing leads your hair to get greasy very quickly.

As a last resort... Sprinkle baby powder where it looks really bad and mix it in really well. It will absorb the oil. Use bronzing powder if you have dark hair.

Can you bring a small thing of dry shampoo with you to work?

You can use dry shampoo when you notice the oil...and try not to wash it as much as gross as it will be for the first few days. Baby powder works in a pinch.

Get a clarifying shampoo & use it once a week.
Stop washing it everyday, the more you strip the natural oil out the more it produces.
On the mornings you don't wash it, rinse & apply conditioner to the very ends only. Oh should only ever condition the ends not your scalp.

Use clarifying shampoos and a drop of conditioner (no conditioner at all can leave your hair malnourished and brittle)

Smart thinking. Where can I get dry shampoo from? I've never seen it, but I have heard of it.

I feel so disgustingly nasty if I don't shampoo it daily. But I guess I could use dry shampoo sometimes instead of my regular shampoo.

Yeah, I just use conditioner on the tips of my hair so it's easier to brush through, but I don't use it throughout all of my hair cause that makes it 10x MORE greasy.

I had this problem! Then I started using thsi stuff called Nioxin. It took about a week but my hair is amazing now! It is pricey but I barely use any of it for my thick hair.
