Potty Training: Spanking

Please don't start drama.
I am doing a paper for school on spanking as a preferred method of potty training. Does/has anyone done this? What is your reason for using this method? Did/does it work?
Also I am not finding much online about it, anyone have an resources?

I've never heard of anyone using this as a method of potty training.   You spank to punish. You don't punish a child for learning to use the potty correctly and making mistakes along the way.

And you probably can't find many resources about it because it's borderline child abuse. Just sayin'.

um... you dont spank a child while potty training. all that does is teaches them fear

Weird in a good way?  

Punishment should not be used in potty training period. Positive reinforcement is much more effective.

I've never heard of this as a "method" for potty training, let alone an effective one.

My grandma did. She said she was just plain frustrated with my mother who kept wetting herself because she didn't want to stop playing to go to the bathroom. She said it worked after just a few times, my mom was around 2-3 I think. My grandma couldn't remember, it was almost 50 years ago.

We spank in my home when needed, but never for potty training...wth?

I don't agree with spanking the child who is learning to use the potty. IMO, it'd cause them to regress if they don't have the trust of their parent/guardian.
