What are you dipping the strawberries in?

So I am not sure if I made the wrong choice, my kids wanted pancakes for dinner. I made them and I can't eat pancakes without a sweet topping. I figures syrup is way too high in calories. Instead I chopped up 1 1/2 cups of strawberries (1/2 cup per person) and mixed it with 1 tablespoon of sugar. I let it sit and create the amazing liquid mascerated strawberries make. was it as bad as syrup?

I discovered today that you could make BANANA pancakes! 1 banana, 1 egg, and a few blueberries or whatever. Let me go find the link.

They were fruit pancakes too. So they were as pretty healthy. My kids (and admittedly me) can't eat pancakes unless they have a sweet topping. I thought the strawberries with a little bit of sugar was better. 1 tbsp of sugar 16 calories, 1 tbsp of syrup was over 180 0_o
