Quoting Viv, Ev & Gwen ♥:" I think cribs are unsafe in general. We cosleep."

I have heard some various friends and parents mention they do this also.
Would you care to elaborate on it more? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Lol goofy cat, Its funny when they think all they are doing is extending affection and we are like wtf? lol I will be watching my kitty very closely and he will be outlawed from the crib, I will keep the crib tent in mind though just in case this furry child of mine doesn't agree. ;) I was very amused by your your story though lol thank you for sharing

Quoting Preggo ✖ Status:" This too, I don't necessarily think theyre unsafe but I do co-sleep more than I use a crib, my baby ... [snip!] ... crib, my baby is only in her crib if I am not napping with her or if the husband and I want some one on one time to ourselves."

I have brought up the idea to my hubby a few times and our general concern with it was the seperation problem with when we do decide to put our son in his own room. Have either of you heard or had any experiance with how difficult this may or may not be? Would definatly make me feel more secure to know where he was and how he is sleeping every night lol

Quoting meggymama:" As a 50/50 co-sleeper with DD I plan to do the same with this baby, we had the moses basket right ... [snip!] ... mainly in her own bed now but still has the sensor pad in her bed and if she is remotely ill I know she is safest in with me."

Thank you for sharing, I am pleased too hear some thoughts on the subject from mothers who have tried this, I have contemplated it and will have to see what my comfort level is when he is born but we have agreed to start with a bassinet by our bed and go from there

It wasn't easy separating my now 4 year old into his own room, we started at about 2 and 1/2 and he had a hard time with it. He is now 4 and still asks to sleep with me, he will sleep on his own though but there are many nights that I wake up with him under the covers by my feet.

Awww that is kinda cute, Its funny a friend of mines first was a boy and when she heard I was going to have my son she says "oh they are such mommas boys you will love it" lol

Quoting Erin Krumwiede:" It is questionable since not every person who uses bumpers has had their infant pass away. And if you ... [snip!] ... to which I agree our conversation has not gotten farther than us questioning each others way of thinking rather than the point."

That doesn't mean the connection of suffocation from crib bumpers is questionable, it just means that it's not a guarantee. Like smoking can cause cancer but it doesn't mean it will. An infant can smother and die from rolling into a crib bumper which is why there is a risk factor to using them, it doesn't mean it going to happen but just because it doesn't happen to every child doesn't mean there's no risk of it happening at all.

Agreed thank you for clarifying I realize now my post was a bit vague on explaining just that lol.
And yes there is still the issue with it happening and that is the overall fear with the bumpers, I am thinking after this discussion I will be just using mesh bumpers and seeing how things go, but will in the beggining be using a bassinet anyways soooo we shall see how it goes.

There's not really much more to elaborate. My daughter slept in bed with me until she was 3 and still at 5 sleeps more nights with me than alone. This baby will too.

The safety and education bandwagon?

<blockquote><b>Quoting Preggo ✖ Status:</b>" uhmm if youre child died from suffocation then they did not die from SIDS. SIDS have no known cause ... Incorrect. SIDS is often times related to rebreathing. I suggest educating yourself.

I'd rather deal with bruises than death.

Putting water on your body and in your body are two very different things. Generally people use metaphors to compare LIKE things.

I would sincerely hope you dressed your child warm enough for the outdoors if you took her out of the house.
