When did your baby's head start being...not so floppy. My son is going to be 6 weeks old tomorrow and can hold himself up pretty decently. Not by himself by any means, but if we sit him on our lap he can hold his head up for a minute or two without any help, then he rests it for a minute and picks it right back up. My dad said it was unusual for a baby his age to be able to do that, but I just wasn't sure.

You should adjust their age for things like that. They're a few weeks behind. It's fine mama. If he's trying I wouldn't be worried.

My son was born a day before I was 37 wks. He has good control of his head by 6-7 wks but full control around 3 months. Lead less to say he was good with holding his head up starting at 6wks.

my daughter was born 35wks and literally could do that the day she was born. she was holding her head while the nurse was giving her a bath right after she was born they were shocked at how much head control she had.

That's really impressive! I think it's because we don't cradle him a lot. Whenever we hold him we almost always have him sitting up. He just gets really fussy when he's laying down. He's curious. I have no idea if he had any head support the first week, I was too scared I was going to break him so I just held him very, very close and in the cradle position constantly. Then he was in the hospital for jaundice and was in the issolette.

she really doesnt like to be cradled too much she wants to be able to move around freely. I was the same way when she was born at 4lbs 11oz she was the smallest baby I had ever held. my SO is still afraid of breaking her lol

My son was born at 36+2 and was 8lbs 4oz. He was a big baby, so not so fragile. He's like 12ish lbs now.

I am 32 wks pregnant and started dilating and thinning out with lots of contractions. They finally got the contractions to stop but they keep coming back. My dr said that it would not be good for my daughter to be born this early. Anyone have any other advice, have you had your child this early and what happens? This is my 2nd child so things progress sooner, as of a couple weeks ago she was already 3lbs 1once. So that is a positive side.. Any info would be awsome!!

I know they like to get you to 36 weeks, but I know a girl who had a baby at 24.5 weeks and he's doing well all things considered. Basically, the longer you can keep them in there, the better they will be. Good luck to you.
