Aww.. What kind of surgery is it?
I'll keep him in my thoughts, my boy has had two minor and one major surgery. It's scary even just minor surgery, but I'm sure you will both be fine.

He's going in to fix a minor birth defect. He's got thumb hypoplasia and they're doing an oppensplasty (I think that's what it's called). He'll be in a splint for 6 weeks afterwards.

Good luck. I think its more stressful on the moms than it is on the kids

Oh? Is it well formed? My friend's sister has hypodactyly. She's missing the ring and pinky finger on her right hand.
Surgery went well. He did almost get admitted because of how sick the anesthesia made him, but there were no beds available, and I get sick after surgery, too, so they were ok sending us home.

That's good! Glad it went well

Oh, weird! So does it look fully formed, just small?
If you google thumb hypoplasia type 2, the first image that comes up is what his hand looked like. He was missing that large muscle at the base of his thumb and it's also smaller than it should be and he can't bend it at the first knuckle. I think they took one of the muscles from the opposite side (under his pinky) and moved it over. I'll get my first look at it on Thursday!
