Protein in urine.

posted 17th Jan
Ok so what happens if they find protein in your urine after a 24 hour collection? Like what's a plan of action?

My Bp has been getting higher(the highest was 156/82) so dr had me do a 24 hour collection. Just nervous as to what will happen if it comes back with spilled protein.

Usually a diagnosis or pre-e. They will either induce or try and monitor your BP. I have a friend who was diagnosed with pre-e at 30 weeks they admitted her to the hospital her bp continued to spike and she delivered via emergency c-section at 32 weeks.

I just hit 30 weeks   my mom is an RN and checks my BP daily. It steadily get higher through the day(I am a SAHM so I don't do like anything really demanding) it will be back down a little when I wake up but that's because I just woke up. I drink tons of water and don't eat a lot of salt at all but idk what else I can do. I try to walk and do light excerise but then my heart races and I feel like crap. Ugh!

You might be looking at bed rest or medication. If you do have pre-e they will most likely induce you early because delivery is the only cure. If it were me I would probably just put myself on bedrest and see how that helps it. Best of luck. And in case you were wondering my friends baby is a perfectly healthy 1 year old now.

They talk about inducing. I was waiting for blood work to come back cause urine test didn't show anything. Had my 37week check up on mon, dec 3rd. We talked about the possibility of inducing later that week or the next week if blood work showed anything.

I went into labor the next day, at exactly 37weeks. They took a urine sample before I was admitted and they said it came back positive for protein. Said it was a good thing my water broke, cause my blood test came back negative. So I wouldn't have seen my dr till the next week and I had pre-e. (Which there were signs for atleast 2 or 3 months but they kept saying everything was fine and my bp wasn't high enough to rule as pre-e.)

But I was told that if any of my tests had come back positive we would have discussed how bad it was, and when to induce. (I read that most Dr.'s don't go over 37 weeks cause the risks are to high.)

Also a girl I went to high school with has pre-e. They found hers around 30 weeks. She just delivered her baby on the 15th at 4pm. At 39 weeks. (She had said her Dr. said something about inducing at 37 or 38, but let her go until 39.)

I rest as much as possible now because he said "modified bed rest" basically any chance I get I have to rest and take my BP. If I have to be on straight bedrest its going to suck cause Dh is starting work and will be gone all week :-(

My youngest was born via emergency c section at 35 weeks and is healthy as a horse. I was just really hoping to finally make it to the end. My oldest was 38 weeks and my youngest 35 weeks.

Thanks. I am having a repeat c section so I am sure he will push it up(right now its a week after my due date) I mean ultimately do what I have to so baby is healthy but I am slightly freaked out :-(

I was diagnosed with pre e around 28/29 weeks. My midwife thought she'd have to take my son by 35 weeks at the latest, but with strict bedrest and diet change i managed to hold him in there longer. It ended up being an emergency c-section. I remember looking at the screen and seeing my blood pursue registering the top number I'm the 200s and the bottom number in the 100s, i was rushed back for the c section pretty quick after that.
