Sandy Hook Parents not fake, misguided situation?

posted 16th Jan
Ok so I have seen a lot of conspiracy theories about this and honestly I'm quite open to listening to different opinions when these tragedies or "stunt" type situations happen just because I generally think you should never just brush anything off.

The thing with Sandy Hook that has got my attention more than anything is the parents interviews, the ones that were shown on ABC news (I believe) because there has been massive speculation and analysing of everything from how well rested they look, full make up, no puffy eyes, no tear stained faces, no actual tears when crying, etc, etc. I admit I found them incredibly strange at first, have shown them to DH and told friends to Youtube it and see what they think. However something quite simple has occurred to me which may explain away the oddness of their interviews and that is the power of TV. In television/media there is a general obsession with everything being "perfect". The way people look, how they are perceived, how well the general production of a programme is. People keep pointing out they wouldn't look like that 2 days after their child had been murdered but would you? They may possibly have had someone doing their hair, their make up, good lighting, a little trick for their eyes to brighten up. They didn't cry or lose it.... but how does anyone know because the camera might have been turned off when it got to much or probably just edited out.

All this "evidence" in the interviews is it really just the habit of the media to make everyone look their best and to make a show look good? Were they misguided in this particular situation to produce a show that matched general expected criteria that they unwittingly completely cut out the raw, natural realness that would have been more appropriate in this setting and more relatable? To a point where the perfection of it all is so fake people are actually accusing the parents of being actors?

I don't know but the rational part of me would rather accept that than the whole thing being a hoax. What do you think?

I wish people would let this go. It's so disrespectful. It happened. Twenty children are dead. Let them rest in peace.

I believe it happened but I just have no idea what to think about the things that don't add up. My heart doesn't hurt any less for those affected by this but something just isn't right with all of the controversy.

Agreed

Most of these fb pages instigating all this hoax b.s. were made during the shooting. Like how do you have this info already?

How the parents have behaved has never been a concern to me as I have never given any kind of consideration to Sandy Hook being a hoax. I think that's absurd and I don't understand why so many people will suspend their disbelief for it.

I do think it happened, however I think it's odd how a lot of things don't add up.

I agree with this, but I'm embarrassed to question it because usually I have an eye roll to things like this. And I do still have a few of those for the way parents act and whatnot, since everyone handles things differently, but there are a few things that make me raise an eyebrow. Mostly the Facebook pages that were created before the event had taken place.

Difference of opinion. What you find disrespectful, others may not. If my child died, I would want to know every detail of what happened. If smurf didn't add up, damn skippy I'd be demanding answers. Just like 9/11. Did you know there are, gasp, parents fighting for the truth of what happened to their kids? Sure, a lot of families want it just dropped. But when smurf doesn't add up, there are going to be people who want the full story and won't stop til they get it.

This is how I feel as well. I haven't went in search of answers some believe for the conspiracy theories though. I feel wrong digging into it and questioning what happened bc of the lives of innocent children being lost.

I am with you, I have a VERY hard time believing there is smurf being hidden, or possibly staged. Mostly because I feel like an smurf for even thinking our government could do such a thing. Maybe that's why it is so perfect, and easy. because nobody will believe it, and those who do will be looked at as crazies. But there is stuff that doesn't add up.

I agree and the only reason that I even feel this way is because of the big controversy with gun control laws that's going on. Children appeal to our rawest emotions and I bawled my eyes out on 12/14, for the children, for the parents, for the families and friends who were all touched by this. My main reason for having doubts is that I refuse to believe that if in fact this were some sort of hoax, that our government would make such huge mistakes, easily discovered by regular Joe Schmoes on the internet.

Yeah but that is what makes it so perfect. They know we wouldn't believe they could do it, or be so stupid about it.

They are truly a group of sick individuals if that is the case.
