3 Year Old Yeast Infection

posted 16th Jan
My little girl keeps complaining that it hurts when she pees. We took her in to the doctor and they said she had a yeast infection and a little crack from her skin not getting dry enough. It's only been a day, though, of her cream they gave her and I'm wondering if anyone has any tricks for making it feel better. (We're getting plain yogurt with the active cultures and we read about the baths but she won't even sit in a bath because she's scared that it'll hurt too...a bath was really hard)...
She's in so much pain. She's potty-trained and hasn't had an accident until yesterday and so far she's had three because she's too scared to go to the bathroom because it will hurt.

That's horrible, I feel for your daughter

Are they sure it's a yeast infection and not a UTI?

May be tmi, but have you noticed any discharge?

At first there wasn't and it was really red, but it's been a day of the ointment they gave us and it seems like it's getting less red and I've noticed a little bit of chunky white discharge coming out and it looks better. It still took me an hour, her teddy bear, to get her to try and pee this morning and she screamed the whole time she was peeing...I'm thinking it's more anxiety than a bladder infection though because the only time it bothers her is when something touches down there.

I honestly didn't even think of the soap. I'm gonna try the apple cider vinegar bath I read about tonight for her bath, though.

I'm not sure. Called the doctor and couldn't get ahold of anyone. If it gets worse today, I stayed home with her, so I can take her back in but I've been putting A&D on it all morning since her medication is only once at night and once in the morning.

Yeah soap probably burns it. Good luck with the apple cider vinegar. I hope it helps her. I'm sure the peeing is anxiety. When my dd has bad constipation she gets super bad anxiety for a long time cause she is afraid pooping will hurt

It took a couple days but the medication from the doctor took it away. She stopped being scared and I think it's all cleared up now!

Good I'm glad she's feeling better. We had to start letting dd do her bath playing and then wash her at the very end because she was getting sensitive. before I was tryin to be smart and wash her first and then let her play until she was done but apparently her vagina wasn't having that
