Why are you always on here talking smurf about people who get assistance? This is all I have ever saw you do. You must be mad that you can't get assistance or something. You are pathetic for feeling the need to talk down to those who are in need...god forbid you ever fall on hard times and need help.

It's not the fault of the other people in your country. Quit work and I apply I guess?

I'm sure you have more money than the people who get it

I wish I didn't need it, but the reality of it is, I make 10$ an hr insurance for me and her would be $145 every 2 weeks. I just can't do it.

Last month I was hospitalized for 4 days, I have to be on meds the rest of my life, and I'm uninsured.
I just don't pay my hospital bills right now since I can't afford to. And if it comes down to paying a hospital bill or paying rent there's no contest, I'm paying rent.

That is unfortunate, I would hate to be in debt, especially if it was for something as necessary as medical care.

Yeah it sucks. You can't get things in life like a home or car because you've been sick.

Id be smurfed without medicaid. I hate hearing about medicaid rants and people not being on public aid for medical because I find it sickening that we have to be rich to afford medical care.

I won't be eligible for medicaid unless I get pregnant...such bullsmurf. Can't wait for our healthcare reform to go into effect. I owe like $20k in medical bills for ONE YEAR of kidney infections and hypothyroidism (which I will have my entire life).

I pay out of pocket my medications and my therapy. I found a therapist who can write prescriptions and only charges me $20 a session. We also have a community health center that depending on your income you have a sliding scale. I have yet to have to go to the hospital or ER since not being on insurance.

My DD is on Medicaid.

I had insurance up until I got hospitalized for 5 and a half months. It covered my stay in the acute facility (which was over $70,000). Then got transferred to the state facility and that entire stay (4 months) was covered 100%. Even my ER trip and trip to the Uriologist was covered.

There are Indigent programs here at these hospitals for county residents. You have to be a resident for 90 days prior to date of service but depending on your ability to pay you can either pay 50%, 30% or none of your bill.

For mental health they also have an Indigent program for county residents or if suicidal you can get involuntary held. They keep you for a minimum of 72 hours and can either discharge you, extend your stay to 10 days and then another hearing or send you to the state hospital. I went in voluntary on a Saturday. I tried checking myself out on the following Tuesday, the Psychiatrist knew I wasn't well and a danger to myself so made me involuntary. At my hearing on that Wednesday they determined I was going to the state hospital. I stayed 45 days. Then transferred to the state hospital 6 hours away from where I was.

It is what it is. I can't get a job right now. I'm unstable. And have alot going on. I'm on disability. But I'm not SSI. I qualified for SSI but I make too much with my SSDI to receive any money for SSI. Therefore I don't automatically qualify for Medicaid. Which is okay I don't get any SSI but I wish I could get Medicaid. In 2 years I can get Medicare though.

Im eligible because I dont make enough and all the problems I have. I cant work over 20 hours a week though or I lose medicaid.... and I wouldnt even be able to pay for everything even if I worked full time.

Wow.... really? "I have learned to do without- some of you should learn how that feels" I certainly know how that feels. I do without a LOT.

Its sickening that this country doesnt take care of those for a basic need as health. So many other countries cover health and dont have debt like us. You are contradicting yourself... you say you are ashamed of living in a place that doesnt take care of its people and lets them suffer... yet you are against people getting medicaid. Makes NO sense.

I was told I might have brain cancer and couldn't afford the tests... thats why I got on medicaid. Imagine being told that and wonder how the smurf you are going to pay for medical tests. I was told today I may have intestinal cancer... again, thank God for medicaid. My surgeries I've had to again, look for ANOTHER form of cancer.... thank God I had medicaid. I have a shot that is 2000 bucks alone each month that I need. Plus my meds and docs visits... If I worked 80 hours a week it STILL wouldnt cover my medical needs.

In order for a country to prosper the citizens need to be healthy. If they arent healthy... then people dont learn. When people dont learn we become a society full of idiots that can't challenge themselves and their family in life. Proper healthcare is at the base of our world, or at least it should be. Healthy people means a healthy world which will allow for people to rise above and NOT be on community assistance.
