Truck Question
posted 16th Jan
My fiancé has a 2001 Toyota Tacoma regular cab that has backseats that fold down, which isn't an actual seat. We are expecting our second June 23rd. The first baby always rides in my car but now I am in school he is going to have to have a vehicle that holds both babies safely. Our first is about to move to the second stage carseat so it will be a front facing, but the newborn will have to have the rear facing, does anyone know if the carseats are safe in that type of truck? Has anyone done it?

I would get a new car with an actual backseat. And yes a newborn needs a rearfacing carseat. And experts recommend kids stay rear facing until 2 or older.

That's what I've been trying to tell him, he just won't listen. His mom still has the title, and she says that he doesn't need the title and that we don't need a bigger truck. I guess I will just always have to take the kids places.

in most states it is illegal to use a carseat in the ''jump seat'' of a truck. In fact in many places its illegal for anyone under the age of 16 to ride in the ''jumpseat''. Carseats arent certified to be installed properly in those seats (so manufacture isnt liable in cases where parents choose to utilize the seat improperly) and law states that no more than 20-25% of the carseat can hang over the seats edge in any vehicle. The safest place in your situation would be to install carseat in frontseat of truck w/the airbag disabled.
