Pat is kinda racist.. meaning instead of saying "that guy", he says that Mexican guy.. or that black guy.. but that's the extent of it really, he has friends of all different races.

I don't think describing somebody is racist. Unless he's using racial slurs when he describes them.

Well he doesn't fling comments really. He has referred to said group of people by what I would call a racial slur but mostly he just calls them by their proper name.

He also does this...the describe someone by calling them what color they are which I don't think it's racist, he's never like "that smurf" or "that wetback."

Oh OK. Yeah then maybe he isn't racist.. lol.. I just never hear him say "that white guy".. although, he does say "old guy" and punk kid..whether white black or whatever race.

I'd just call that being descriptive  

IDK my husband is weird like he is like prejudice against everyone until he gets to know them so he like is cautious I guess you could say but it isnt against one certain race or gender...if that makes sense. He does laugh and tell racial jokes and stuff but he'll tell them to his buddies of that race...does that make him racist? Who knows...but its never stuff thats said in front of our kids.

IDK, I am not really sure what qualifies as being racist vs stereotypical vs prejudiced is now. I'm confused  

SO says we are all stereotypical because certain people fall into a model that we have in our heads from when we were growing up...and he says that we all have prejudices but I know I'm not racist, he is though....and he knows he is.

I think I kind of understand the stereotypical thing since its shoved at us from our friends, family, news stuff like that. I know I'm not prejudice or racists though so...hmmm

My kids and I have so many things mixed in us, it's hard for me to think of being racist.

thats how my husband is, he knows I have mexicans and blacks in my family and he has one black cousin, I know he can be racist but it doesn't make me love him any less, people have their right to speak their opinions and if you don't like it then that just means your not accepting them for who they are. everyone has flaws and racism can be one. The only way I couldn't be with someone that is racist is if i feel I can't take them out of the house without them screaming out negative things like "oh look at that wet back, he/she needs to go back to their own country" or something. My ex's dad was beyond racist towards mexicans and it drove me nuts.
