Quoting min.:" I have some questions for you. This is my goal in life and I'd like to know more about how it works for ... [snip!] ... have? Do you buy most things from second hand stores? Do you wish you were a working mom? Do you get government support? TIA."

What does your husband/boyfriend do for a living?
He's a coal miner (night shift)

Did you have to alter your budget by getting rid of cable or other extras?
Nope. We actually both had two jobs before DD was born & he got hired there. He got hired the day she came home, & I was able to stay home with her. He makes more money now than both of us were bringing in then. So technically, we have more extras. But we don't have cable, just netflix, simply because it's pointless for us to have.

How many vehicles do you have?
We own a Jeep & a Grand Prix. Looking into getting a new car & selling the Grand Prix & keeping the jeep as a work car.

Do you buy most things from second hand stores?
No, we just usually go to Wal-mart for groceries, cleaning supplies, etc.

Do you wish you were a working mom?
No. I love being a SAHM. It's what I was meant to do.

Do you get government support?
None.

What does your husband/boyfriend do for a living? He's a software engineer/project manager

Did you have to alter your budget by getting rid of cable or other extras? At first when we moved for his job, things were a little tight, but now we have plenty leftover.

How many vehicles do you have? 2 currently, but in the past we've had up to 3 and a motorcycle

Do you buy most things from second hand stores? No. We do buy some stuff at second hand stores, but mainly because that's one of the only places to shop in a town like this. lol

Do you wish you were a working mom? Honestly? Some days. I actually do some freelance writing on the side for the local newspaper, so that helps me get some adult interaction while feeling like I'm actually using my college education for something useful. Most days I realize how lucky I am to be able to watch my kids grow up, but there are some days I just want to be able to have a job.

Do you get government support? Nope. Got a few pell grants for college, but that's the only gov't support we've ever used.

What does your husband/boyfriend do for a living? he is in tech/computers

Did you have to alter your budget by getting rid of cable or other extras? didnt' *have to* but did for other reasons mostly - like "why should I squander any money on a cable bill every month I could put into a college fund?"...

How many vehicles do you have? 3

Do you buy most things from second hand stores?
Yes - but also did when I was working & making more money than he does now & before we had kids. That goes back to the "I don't squander" money idea. If I can be well dressed without spend a ton of money, I don't know why I would spend a ton of money. Dh laughs that I wouldn't shop retail even if we were millionaires...but it's no joke.

Do you wish you were a working mom? nope - if I did, I would.

Do you get government support?
nope
