What does your husband/boyfriend do for a living?
Works for the Anheuser Busch Distributor in our area.
Did you have to alter your budget by getting rid of cable or other extras?
Nope
How many vehicles do you have?
3.
Do you buy most things from second hand stores?
Not really, we have a childrens resale store here that does clothing exchange and I do that sometimes. Oh, and I tend to check craigslist for stuff from time to time but we don't HAVE to, I just like getting a good deal.
Do you wish you were a working mom?
Hell No, I still pick up shifts from time to time at the restaurant I used to work full time at but I don't miss working at all.
Do you get government support?

No

Did you have to alter your budget by getting rid of cable or other extras? Nope, but we did cut out all the extras on cable since we never watch TV and opted to allocate that money to enroll DS in karate and SO in cage fitness.
How many vehicles do you have? One at the moment since my transmission went out
Do you buy most things from second hand stores? No
Do you wish you were a working mom? Not really just wish I had more adult interaction.

I had always planned to stay at home with young children. My plan was to look after a few other children, but I decided against this, my children are enough responsibility for me right now  .

I am able to take unpaid leave for a few years from my job, so that is what I am doing. We saved up a bunch of money first, my husband and I make about the same amount. We are slowly going through that money.

As for your questions:
What does your husband/boyfriend do for a living?

- computers, government job.
Did you have to alter your budget by getting rid of cable or other extras?

- we did get rid of cable but we upgraded internet and cell phones. We give ourselves less for personal spending money and groceries now.
How many vehicles do you have?
- one, my husband takes the bus to work, we have only ever had one vehicle.
Do you buy most things from second hand stores?
- Most children clothing is from second hand stores, but that is because I can't bring myself to pay much for clothing that might get stained and will be outgrown very soon. They have very cute clothing.
Do you wish you were a working mom?
- not at all. There was one day in the last two + years that I wished I was at work  . I do miss the time to myself, without children crawling on me and my co-workers though  .
Do you get government support?
- I was going to say 'no' but everyone in Canada gets $100/child/month under the age of 6 and I do get an extra $144/month because we have two children and make under a threshold, I can't remember what this is for though, it was just because we file our taxes and checked a box to be considered for various money  .

What does your husband/boyfriend do for a living? dh is a cable contractor

Did you have to alter your budget by getting rid of cable or other extras? depends on what you consider extras and budgeting. We have cable/wifi, we go out to eat every couple of weeks but we do have to be pretty conscious of how much we spend.

How many vehicles do you have? we have 2 nice vehicles and a motorcycle

Do you buy most things from second hand stores? No. I don't get to buy Coach bags and high dollar things anymore, the outlet mall down the road is where we do most of our shopping. Dh does get some work clothes from the thrift store though.

Do you wish you were a working mom? I wish I were a part time working mom! Being a sahm is a HUGE commitment and I feel isolated sometimes, I'de love to work just like 3 days a week!

Do you get government support?
No, the kids and I had medicaid for a while when I lost my insurance but we're getting new insurance.

1. My husband is an electronics engineer Sept 2011-present and before that was in the air force for 8 years(6 of which I was married to him)

2. No, we still have cable and everything

3. We have 2 vehicles of which one we own out right-2007 Honda Odyssey and 2005 Saturn Vue

4. We only shop in 2nd hand stores if we choose to

5. YES, I wish I worked and outside of the home. Not only would the extra income be great but I am sick of being a SAHM after almost 7 years of being one.

6. No, we don't get government support, nor do we even qualify for it either.

I'll answer these from when I was a SAHM, but since my fiance passed away over a year ago, I've been a working mom (because I had no choice).

What does your husband/boyfriend do for a living?
Strip club DJ, and ran his own sound business/light installation for clubs.

Did you have to alter your budget by getting rid of cable or other extras?
Nope.

How many vehicles do you have?
We had a motorcycle, a truck, and two cars (one was a specialty car that he was renovating), and then off and on we had a third vehicle, but we usually sold it, and then purchased another (he really loved cars).

Do you buy most things from second hand stores?
I don't think we really ever bought anything from the second hand store.

Do you wish you were a working mom?
I liked having something outside of the home to do. Not necessarily a job, but I took some college classes and did yoga--so not really, but I liked having things to do outside of housework/child care.

Do you get government support?
We didn't, no.

I'm going to start by saying I'm not a SAHM by choice. I wish I could work but DD requires a lot of medical care and can't be in daycares and my husband works full time and is going to school to get his MA.

My husband is an English high school teacher.

We cut expenses by cloth diapering, homemade cleaners and such, I use the no poo method and don't wear makeup, we track our electricity to keep it as low as possible. We still have internet package because my husband is Deaf and requires internet for his videophone and also for his work and school, it's non negotiable.

We traded in our 2 cars for 1 car when we couldn't afford both.

If and when we buy things, it's always from 2nd hand shops and from Mamas online. A lot of our stuff we manage with are hand-me-downs.

Yes I wish I could work part time as well as continue my schooling

We do not get assistance because we do not qualify by like a tiny amount. We do however use a food pantry that is community, not government, run.

What does your husband/boyfriend do for a living?
He's an analyst for a major banking firm.
Did you have to alter your budget by getting rid of cable or other extras?
No, but we are careful with our money and don't spend it on things just because we can. We're also saving up a down payment to buy a house, so we're being pretty frugal right now. We have Verizon Fios cable, but might be getting rid of it soon. We only watch tv an hour or two a day, and that is usually over the internet anyway.
How many vehicles do you have?
We have two that are completely paid off. We are planning to sell both soon, and get a new car.
Do you buy most things from second hand stores?
No. I have bought things from them before, but usually just shop in the "sale" section at Kohl's for DS. I don't buy clothes for myself or DH, unless we have a gift card.
Do you wish you were a working mom?
Sometimes. I LOVE being home with DS right now in his first year, but I also want to work in my dream career, and have a long road ahead of me to do that (I want to be a Certified Nurse-Midwife). I'm torn I guess haha. I am in school right now, though (well, I will be next semester) to get my RN.
Do you get government support?
No.

What does your husband/boyfriend do for a living?
Works as a navigator on a boat. He's gone for 5 weeks, and home for 5 weeks.

Did you have to alter your budget by getting rid of cable or other extras?
Nope. We have cable internet(didn't want cable tv). We have Netflix, movies, video games, etc.

How many vehicles do you have?
1, but my car died, and just haven't had the need to get a second one.

Do you buy most things from second hand stores?
Nope. We buy most stuff from regular stores. I do like to go to second hand stores from time to time, though, but that's to look for books and such.

Do you wish you were a working mom?
Nope

Do you get government support?

Nope. I am on Medicaid because I am pregnant, and we're not married. If we were married, I'd probably be on his insurance.

The 100 dollar one is the national child tax that you get for every child under the age of six to help with child care. The other is child tax and as soon as you make 100000.00 and over you no longer qualify for it. I forgot about that but I don't feel it is much of a gov't assistance.

The $100/month really has nothing to do with childcare, that was just part of the way to get votes (not that I'm against it  ).

Thanks!
