I go to a lot of yard sales but not because we have to just something I love to do.

sometimes when I'm going crazy at home or when I feel like I'm not contributing much but for the most part no I love what I do.

My husband builds cabinets.

No..unless we are having money problems and then we take away as needed.

No. We buy accordingly, we get what we can as we can afford it.

Dh is a Dispatcher. We have cable, cell phones, internet, ect. We only have 1 car. We buy most of our stuff new with a few exceptions. No I dont wish I was a working mom, but I do miss it sometimes. I plan on going back to work when my kids start preschool. Yes, I get some govt. assistance. We get WIC and DS is on Medi-Cal. We quailify for food stamps also, but we do just fine with out them, so we have never applied.

He is a team lead at a distribution center here in town. However, I do work part time (12 hrs/week) as a Nutrition Educator...mainly for my sanity. lol

We definitely do budget, but that includes budgeting in fun things as well. We don't spend extravagantly, but we don't go without.

How many vehicles do you have? We have 2, but we mainly share one.

Do you buy most things from second hand stores? Nope, not at all. We have 3 boys, so I buy new clothes for the oldest, and then the other two wear hand-me-downs (I still buy them new stuff sometimes though)

Do you wish you were a working mom? I work 12 hrs./week. I never want to work a full time job again....I love what I do.

Do you get government support? Nope

What does your husband/boyfriend do for a living? He's the assistant director of safety and security for a local college, and also in the military reserves.

Did you have to alter your budget by getting rid of cable or other extras? Yes. We have no cable, and we budget rather strictly.

How many vehicles do you have? Two, one will be completely paid off this spring.

Do you buy most things from second hand stores? Yes, or on sale. It is mostly because I fail to see why we shouldn't. I find things new with tags for super cheap.

Do you wish you were a working mom? I do work as a Pampered Chef consultant, I generally hold my shows on Saturdays.

Do you wish you were a working mom? no, when my kids go to school, yes.

Do you get government support? no, when he first started working he only made 8 an hour, and we did receive food stamps, but now he makes 15 an hour, and we are ABLE to get them, but choose to save them for someone who really needs them.

I'm a work at home mom, but my work only makes about $40 a month lol. For me, I want to stay home but also have some feeling of contributing so working at home is perfect.

My husband is a programmer, and does make phone apps as a fun side job. We have one vehicle. We are not on any government assistance of any sort including food stamps. I do shop at consignment shops for our kids, but would of done that even if working outside of home. I'm into leaving a small footprint. We currently live in an apartment and pay $868 a month, we do sacrifice some luxuries like we don't have HD T.V.

The hardest part for us is we are trying to put a lot of money into paying off student loans and saving up for a house.

Do you buy most things from second hand stores? No. I do shop at second hand stores to find toys or clothes in good condition, but its not necessary to our budget.
Do you wish you were a working mom? I work nights and part time, usually 10 - 14 hours a week. Its not for money, I need a break from the kids.   I did get the job mostly for myself and my expenses. DH could afford them on just his pay check but I always feel guilty spending his money on things like make-up or clothes.
Do you get government support? No. I think we do qualify for WIC but we don't need it.

We have about 300 left over after we pay bills, gas, groceries, etc. We have to budget really closely but we don't cut anything out.

One for now. Buying another around August.

No. I buy most things on the clearance rack.

Sometimes. I'll be going to school this fall and that's close enough for me

$225 in food stamps and Medicaid for the kids.

I've been a SAHM for 5 years now, and to start off it was tough, but now I'm an old pro  

What does your husband/boyfriend do for a living? He's a truck driver. He works for a national potato chip company making deliveries and back hauls.

Did you have to alter your budget by getting rid of cable or other extras? At first, yes. We went almost a year without cable and internet, but watched a lot of movies and whatnot.

How many vehicles do you have? We've always had two up until this fall. We currently have one, but plan to get a new one when we get our tax return.

Do you buy most things from second hand stores? No, though we do have some second hand stuff. I buy a lot of my kids play clothes from consignment only b/c it's practical.

Do you get government support? No, but we have been in the past. I was on WIC during my second pregnancy, and we were on food stamps for about 6 months when my SO was unemployed.


If you budget, and live within your means than you should be able to live pretty comfortably. We do. So makes about 75k a year. All our bills are paid on time. We have food on our table, a roof over our heads, and we still have money to do the things we want to do (vacation once a year, occasional weekend trips, going out to eat, etc).

My husband is a journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic who works on heavy equipment in the oil field.

No we didn't have to cut anything out of our budget.

We own 2 new vehicles 2010 equinox and a 2012 chev 1/2 ton we also have a camper for camping during summer.

We do not have to buy from thrift stores. I do donate our clothes to them rather then sell them once my children are done with them.

Somedays I wish I still worked but glad that I have the option of staying at home.

We make too much to even qualify for government assistance. If I had to rely on some sort of government assistance I would go back to work so we didnt have to rely on gov't assistance. But that's just me.

He's an electrician working for a contracting company. He does electrical work at coal mining prep plants.

Yeah. I feel like I'm not doing enough, even though I do everything. I like to have extra money too. I'm in school for medical coding right now and I'll be done in May. I'll be working from home.

Just my health insurance. As soon as I start making at least $200 a month, that will be gone.
