Commitment Ceremony

So my fiance and I are going to have a commitment ceremony. We want to be married and would be married by now but we cant. We cant be legally married because he has type 1 diabeties, he is on his parents health insurance and if we were married he couldnt be on it anymore. Even if we applied for health insurance he would be denied because it is a pre-existing condition. It is very upsetting that we cant be legally married because of health insurance. I mean yeah its a pre-exisitng condition but its not going away and he needs meds for it!! It costs thousands and thousands of dollars for meds he needs daily. So we are going to go through with a commitment ceremony. We will have wedding bands, be husband and wife in the eyes of god but not in the eyes of our government. The purpose of this post is if anyone else has had a commitment ceremony, and what are some ideas of what we can do.  

How old is he? From what I've been told by insurance companies, as long as you're under 26 it doesn't matter if you're married or not.

Here talks about pre-existing conditions. I do believe though that as long as you have had continuous coverage you could get married and he would then transfer to your insurance.

Also when Obamacare goes into effect in 2014 preexisting conditions can no longer be denied.
