i was under the impression that the new legislature would only press for better education and safety, not take them away.

Well, it doesn't confiscate weapons. But, it makes it harder for everyone to get a gun. Those that will feel the bigger challenge is those seeking lawful ownership. Criminals will still have access the wayntheybhave always had access.
So, the ratio of bad guys :good guys will get less favorable for the general public in NY.

Pretty sure that's what assault weapons BAN means.... I'm sure children are injured with all types of firearms.

For the record... I'm all for stricter background checks and gun safety.
