Gliders.....get one or no?

posted 16th Jan
Did you have a glider chair with your children? Would you recommend them? I didn't have one with my first, and I ended up spending HOURS walking around his room, rocking him to sleep....I think a glider would have been useful.

For a moment I thought this was going to be about Sugar Gliders lol.

Back to reality...personally I like gliders and rocking chairs. We don'y have room nor the wallet to buy one, but in Babies R' Us my husband puts our infant to sleep in a gliding chair. That way I can window shop.

Hell to the yes. I got one when I was pregnant with my last and I live in that thing. I rock my baby and my 2 other kids in it all the time or just sit in it and watch tv or knit.

yes, but do't waste your money on a cheap one at a store like target/walmart. SPend the extra money on a good one from a furniture store.

I LOVE my glider... it was about 800 (I'm sure you can get them for less now)... it still works like new.. and it's been 11 years.

my MIL bought one at target for $200... hers is a piece of smurf. IT sticks, squeaks... and nowhere NEAR as comfortable.

I bought an old wood rocking chair from a garage sale. I love it & have it sitting in my room as the boys love rocking it into the walls. I won't get rid of it. If anything I will beg my mom to store it until I have grandkids.

I had to buy it a pad & it doesn't have a footrest. But it has history.

I got mine for $25 at the goodwill with the foot rest and it works great. I didn't have a couple hundred bucks to drop on one.

I refused to get one. I felt I didnt NEED one and if I never rocked DS to sleep then it wouldn't matter because he wouldn't want to be rocked to sleep. When He was 4 months old my dad came to visit, tried to talk me into buying one and I still refused. I went out with my mom for the day and came home to a rocker in my nursery. I was pissed. I sad I didn't want one I didnt care how bad he thought I needed one I told him I didn't want it and he should have respected that..... Welll now DS is 10 months and I use it 2-3 times a day lol. Ive since appologized to my dad for being so stuck up about it. I love my glider.

omg YES! My MIL gave me hers, she just changed the fabric to beige. So it`s old but it was a life saver. I told SO that if we have another kid, I want a new one.

The one we have squeaks and knocks. But hell, it`s probably over 10 yrs old and I know with us alone went through 2 moves and probably more with my MIL.

I love mine! Got it from Baby Depot in burlington coat factory..you can usually find 15% off coupons in most baby magazines! we spent $110.00 on one and when we got it home..turns out they took the wrong one out of the back and gave us the $300.00 one =) it matched the room better too.my son is 14 months and sometimes he wakes at night and it still helps me rock him back to sleep. When he's a little older i'll probably put it on our sun porch.

I love mine! We spent about 150 for that with a footrest at Walmart and I use it all the time. Sometimes it calms DS down even when he's not tired. It works just as good as the 600 one we registered for at Babies R us.
