They are obligated to watch your child? Because you're family? Man I wish I had know about then when I paid my family a significantly low price to watch my oldest and was grateful for it. I should have demanded they do it for free and then bitched about how they took care of her.

most families would watch them for free wouldnt they? well in my family they do. and just because they are watching the baby for free does that mean they can just mess up a schedule?

if you have ever tried to put your lo on a schedule/routine you would know how important it is that it is stuck to. otherwise whats the point?

They only switched bathtime and dinner. It's not like they threw the whole schedule into the wind and said smurf it. He's only been on that set schedule for 2 weeks and a minor deviation wouldn't throw it off to the point that he would wake every 3 hours because of it.

i have been bashed about doing something that my healthvisit.or told me i was fine to do. i mentioned that i gave my lo water and all hell broke loose! i was already feeling like i had failed and then after asking for advice i was told that i am poisoning my child! things are different over here and if my doctor or midwife tells me that i am doing right thats good enough for me.

the reason i posted this vent was because i was fed up seeing the trolls on here attacking others for doing what they felt was right and asking others for advice. most first time mums dont have the confidence to fight back for fear of being told they are doing it wrong. all i know is that if the child is happy you must be doing something right.

i dont agree with letting a child cry at any age but sometimes it cant be avoided. for instance when you need the bathroom or maybe even if you are trying to eat when you havent been able to the whole day. whilst the baby is the main priority you have to look after yourself aswell. that is what i have always been told

i have my daughter on a schedule and i know that even feeding her half hour before/after her normal time will make her wake every few hours

That's not CIO though..... lol.

No, they shouldn't have water that young. Not until a MINIMUM of four months, and that's if it's Summer and really hot honestly. Every doctor/health visitor will tell you something different.

The key here, is people are going to expect you to research things for yourself, not just trust that doctors know everything, because they don't. A lot of doctors have outdated information, it's up to you to do the research to make sure their info is up to date.

If you don't, then yes, you will continue to be bashed on here.

over here it is considered fine to give a baby water so long as its not a substitute for food. me and everyone i know was given water as a baby and it hasnt done any of us any harm

Ahhhh, the ol' "I survived" excuse.

Then continue getting bashed. Babies over there are no different than babies here lol. Do what you want with your kid, but nothing's going to change here for you.

what about swaddling your child? over here it is considered dangerous to do that due to the child overheating but over there it is considered fine. like i said different countries do things differently

Because water affects their health. Their INSIDES. All babies have the same smurf goin' on internally. If you're fine with the decision, why are you so defensive? Does it REALLY matter that much what people in a different country think about what your doing?

Swaddling is dangerous if they can overheat, that's why you're not supposed to put a baby in a heavy sleeper and swaddle them lol.

The danger with water is that studies have shown it can cause water intoxication in young infants. It can kill them. Adults can get it too, but it would take MUCH longer to do so for an adult. Babies are so teeny that a fraction of what it would take to hurt us would kill them.

Swaddling can overheat if you have too many clothes on and swaddle, which is why parents are often taught that and proper swaddling techniques while still in the hospital.

Crib bumpers are considered dangerous here, but I know they're not considered as such in other countries. Same thing with rear facing after age one. Cultural differences DO come into play. But most people just want to educate and inform that sometimes, the doctors DO have it wrong.

There are also countries where infants don't need to be in carseats at all, you can just strap them to a moped and take off.
Doesn't mean that's good for the baby.

Here, in the UK formula fed babies are routinely offered one to two ounces of cooled boiled water per day to aid constipation or dehydration, this is the ONLY time prior to 4/6 months and ONLY in formula fed babies. The problem is that in the past people have given more than 2 oz per day and or to BF babies who do not need any extra fluid.
