SO is getting picked up by mental health soon :(

posted 15th Jan
My SO has been having some significant problems recently and he has chronic szhioprenia and is usually on an injection but he has been avoiding his injection since 3rd december and last night it got too much to bear for me and I called mental health on him and the nurse and the police are coming here to pick him up sometime this afternoon and admit him involuntary to the hospital to get him stable again and back on his medication.

I feel so horrible though. I know its the right thing to do but I feel like I failed somehow and its my fault. He does not accept his condition he has been diagnosed for a fair few years but he is in denial about it especially when he is unwell he does not recognise that there is something wrong but everyone else can clearly see he isnt right.

I just hope when they pick him up he goes peacefully and does not cause a scene in front of Sheldon.

Can you have someone come & take the baby for a little bit while you wait for them to get there, just in case?

Is there anybody that could take the baby? Even a neighbor or something?

First off, call someone to come pick up Sheldon for a few hours.

But I'm so sorry you are going through this
Have you ever thought of setting up video cameras in the house so when he gets like that, once he gets better, you can show him? Kind of hard to deny something when it's right in front of you.

With him being schizphrenic and in denial, I can see that backfiring horribly. It's a good thought, but I don't think it would be wise to execute.

OP-
So sorry you are going through this. I've been down that road too many times myself (I'm schizoaffective). It is so hard to accept that something is wrong with you whether it is mental or physical. It's so much harder for men.

I hope he gets the help he needs and goes without a fight.
If you can't find someone to watch Sheldon, I suggest trying to get him to take a nap with some white noise in the background shortly before they arrive. I'm sure you can ask for a phone call in advanced if you call explain that you'd like to be able to put the baby down for a nap before everything hapoens.

it's what we were advised to do with my bipolar sister and my schizophrenic grandmother, only reason I mentioned it.

It was a good suggestion, don't get me wrong! I can just see where it can backfire horribly. Schizophrenics are prone to periods of intense paranoia.

ya, that makes sense! We didn't do it all the time. Only when she was FIRST diagnosed and wouldn't believe what the drs were telling her.

I don't have much to say, but you're in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us updated, OP.

He got picked up and first he was saying he doesnt want to go.
but the mental health and the police explained that he has to go its not his choice.
so he went without much of a fight said bye to sheldon and to me and then I took him in some clothes and toothbrush etc at about 4pm and he was a bit paranoid asking if im cheating on him and why did i put him in hospital and all this kind of stuff then talking about birds telling him things and that this planet the next planet that he doesnt want to go to the next planet etc.. just basically stuff he made up in his head that makes no sense to a normal thinking person.

Then I go home and I have just put sheldon to sleep I get this phone call from him (its 8pm now) and he was talking nonsense on the phone to me. I ended up saying I will see you at 3pm when visiting hours open love you and hung up and he said no you dont before I hung up.

*sigh* Its so hard. I just want to give up.

Oh and as for getting someone to watch sheldon its pretty much just me. we recently moved house to a new area at the beginning of this month and i dont have any family around thats close enough to just get him watched spur of the moment, closest family is 45 min away, and as for neighbours I havent even met or seen them yet. lol

Glad he didn't put up a scene in front of Sheldon. I hope he accepts the help he needs so he can come back home here soon. I know this must be tough, but you did what was best for him, most importantly and then your son ya know? I'll keep you guys in my prayers. Keep us all posted.
