My last great grandparent

died recently. She was 91 years old. It hit me a lot harder than I thought it would. She used to live next door to me and was the sweetest person I've ever met. She moved back to California a few years ago and I haven't talked to her since. She's been in and out of the hospital and my great aunt had been keeping me updated. Well, she stopped getting on facebook and I was getting really worried. So I tried to find out how to get ahold of someone to find out what was going on.

Finally, I talked to my Dad who I don't hardly ever talk to. He's known for WEEKS that she passed away. And no one told me. I was probably the one that was the closest to her and no one told me. I am so mad. How can they keep something like that from me? His reasoning was, that he knew how close I was to her and didn't wanna upset me. Seriously? Not cool.

I haven't stopped crying in two days. I'll never get to talk to her again.

I can't understand what your father was thinking! You wouldn't notice that she was gone?!? That's terrible.

I was only skimming your post initially because I was in awe that you still had a great grandparent (my last one passed away in my first year of life), I just lost my last grandparent this past September. You were very fortunate to have had a chance to get to know your great grandmother,

Yeah, I lost my other great grandmother in 2003. And my great grand father in 2000. I've only lost one grandparent, two years ago. I think I would pretty much go crazy if something ever happened to my grandmother   She pretty much was like my mom

extremely. my last great-grandparent died when I was 9. I named my last child after her. my husband still has a set of great-grandparents though, so our kids know their great-great-grandparents, and I am so glad for that.

my grandmother is all I have left. my other grandparents, and even step-grandparents have all passed recently. it's hard to imagine her not being here either...
