Update on Leilani

Leilani has turned blue in the face twice since she was born. The first time she was less than a week old and we told the home healthcare nurse from Children's Hospital that came to check her Jaundice levels and she said just to keep an eye on it. The second time she did it was Friday night but she was awake and alert it's just that her mouth was pale and blue so I watched her carefully throughout the night and got her into the doctor on Saturday. She was put on a heart monitor on Saturday and the respitory therapist had to go over infant CPR with me and gave me CPR posters to put up around the apartment.

We went to the DR. again today to see her regular pediatrician since he wasn't available over the weekend. Leilani has also been having sever crying fits non stop crying unsoothable for up to 3 hours after she eats. He prescribed colic and acid reflux medicine and sent us for 5 different tests at the hospital. She had a blood test, a respitory test, an EKG, an x-ray and an ultrasound. One of the tests made her so upset that her heart rate went up dangerously high and set off the alarm on her heart monitor that was extremely scary for me but at least we were at the hospital surounded by nurses....which wasn't much help because they had no clue what to do most of them had never seen an apnea monitor before, (it was the regular hospital in our small town not Children's.)

So we have had a very long day but hopefully we will find out what exactly is wrong with her and things will get better soon.

Thank you so much, I appreciate it. It's so scary being a new mommy but I'm so glad her Pedi has been my doctor since I was born and he is a great doctor and sent us for the tests we needed when his PAs and the other Doctor that was on call this weekend ignored my concerns at first especially my concerns about her crying fits. I have cried with her twice because I could not sooth her no matter how much I tried to comfort her
