20 month old speech development.

My dd understands everything I say, follows commands etc so. Don't really have concerns, though as a first time mom there's always questions I'm asking in my own head... What can I do better? So if any of you can give me suggestions I'd appreciate it!

My daughter says lots of words, I stopped conting at 50. She doesn't put any words together yet though. How can I help her? Also, a lot of the words she says are really unclear.. I'm the only one who understands a lot of it. That's normal right? Will she just start pronouncing words correctly one day? I guess I am just asking for ways to help her improve on her pronunciation and sentence making.

When they are that young, the best thing you can do is communicate with them. She learns from you. If you're cooking dinner, doing laundry, etc talk her through it. Her speech will become more clear with age.

Good to know because this is what I am doing so I'm glad it's helping!

No offence but just leave her be, do what your doing.. Talk to her and explain things you are doing. She will speak in her own time, my three year old has never been a huge talker..in fact she prefers to not..think it adds to her ninja skills

This!

I have always talked to my daughter when I'm doing something. People actually look at me funny cause I do it while I'm shopping. It isn't like I'm not talking to someone. It will come with time but if I notice my daughter say something I try to get her to pronounce it clearer. But of course it does still take time. Some things she pronounces awesome and other things you have to really pay attention to what she says.

That's all completely normal for this age.

I try to encourage proper pronunciation by repeating what my LO says and asking him to repeat it like he says "mik?" And I ask him "do you want milk?" He'll bid and I'll say "say miiilllk" and I just draw out the pronunciation he was missing and he usually pronounced it correctly when he repeats.

Thanks  the thing is she has been throwing a lot of tantrums lately because she can't communicate as effectively as she would like to, so I'm trying to help her with the sentence thing so she doesn't get so upset.

My son didn't start talking at all until about a month ago, he's 22 months. He definitely isn't making sentences, his pedi really isn't worried about it. Everyone develops differently.
